This time, the duo characters I cosplayed with partner @小北绿豆 have finally been frozen in time in front of the red velvet curtain. On my side, I am Wakaba Mutsumi. This outfit features a black lace base paired with an emerald green bow and a plush bunny doll, overall leaning into a Gothic style cosplay that brings a touch of sweetness to the darkness. The wig was specially toned to a light bluish-gray, with the hair layers and the curve of the bangs fitting the character's temperament as closely as possible; a lot of thought also went into shaping the pleats and frayed edges on the hat. During the shoot, our positioning was designed to create a staggered, high-and-low conversational feel—I was down below cradling the plushie, while she leaned by the red bedside flipping through a book, creating a quiet atmosphere with a hint of dramatic tension. Photographer Orange is highly skilled at capturing this kind of light and shadow; the overhead light cast a beautiful rim light on the hair strands, and the clashing colors of red and black gave the image a very cinematic feel.
In fact, this costume has quite a lot of details, such as the black ties at the neckline, the ruffles on the skirt hem, as well as the star decorations on the legs and the polka dot stockings—every single part is meant to recreate that melancholy yet exquisite feel of the character. When playing alongside Sakiko, eye contact is crucial; there's no need for too many movements, just maintaining that serene state is enough. A studio shoot truly allows one to become fully immersed; from the hairstyle to the makeup, and then to the placement of props, every step helps us get into character. I particularly love this specific shot from the final set—the composition is rich, the colors are deep, and it completely captures the atmosphere between the two of us. The plush texture of the doll and the texture of the book were both captured with extreme clarity, making it a highly ideal duo cosplay record in my mind.
