[Chiaki Nanami Cosplay] Danganronpa, Who Can Replace Me

When I changed into this outfit and picked up that blue-and-red handheld game console, the line "Who can replace me" actually flashed through my mind, instantly allowing me to find that casual yet focused state of the character.

This time I'm cosplaying Chiaki Nanami from Danganronpa. The overall attire is anime-style fashion with an academy vibe. The deep dark green long-sleeved jacket has a solid texture, and the two white stripes on the cuffs are the finishing touch. The inner white turn-down collar shirt is paired with a light pink bow tie, achieving a perfect visual balance in terms of color. The light-colored pleated skirt on the lower body is paired with grayish-black translucent stockings, stepping into a pair of matching light pink platform Mary Janes. The overall tone carries both a sense of being a uniformed girl and the soft aura of a young girl.

Aside from the costume, a lot of thought went into the accessories this time. The pink plush you see was hand-sewn and feels very fluffy; holding it while sitting on a chair gives a very secure feeling. The handheld console placed on the floor in Figure 1 is also a key prop for this shoot, perfectly restoring the hardcore "gamer" attribute from the character design.

The short silver hair is another highlight of this styling. I chose a matte light grayish-white wig and meticulously trimmed the front bangs and hair ends on both sides to give it a slightly messy yet soft layered feel. For makeup, to align with the character's languid yet earnest aura, I intentionally toned down the eyeshadow colors and focused on the lower eyelids and the depiction of her gaze, making the overall look clean and clear to get as close to that denpa-like atmosphere as possible.

On the day of the shoot, we found an indoor space with an old-style wooden structure. One of the scenes is by the window in Figure 2, where the light was very abundant. The natural light shining on my face and body beautifully presented the translucency of the wig and the skin-hugging texture of the stockings. Combined with the wall shelves and old books, the entire image feels full of life atmosphere. The other scene is by the corridor wall in Figure 1, where the dark wooden wall panels and the geometric color-blocked carpet underfoot create a slightly dark corner vibe. With that small black-and-white pixel-art poster pasted on the wall, I squatted down, placed the game console by my feet, and tried hard to find that immersive gamer state.

During the photoshoot, I paid high attention to the relaxation of my expression. This character looks somewhat listless on the outside, but she possesses a stubborn tenderness toward games and her companions. Therefore, I didn't deliberately strike forced poses; instead, I let the photographer capture casual movements so that the resulting photos would look more natural. Although wearing the wig for a long time was a bit stuffy and hot, this outfit itself isn't exaggerated—it's actually quite casual, and wearing it to go shopping wouldn't feel out of place at all.

As an enthusiast, I always feel that approaching the spiritual core of a character within limited props and environments is one of the purest joys of cosplay. Behind every single photo, there is a process of costume selection, wig trimming, prop preparation, shooting venue coordination, and blending with the photographer. Looking back at these final photos after finishing, I can still remember the temperature of the sunshine back then and the tranquility of focusing on the roleplay itself. I hope these pictures can convey the character's trait of being seemingly languid on the surface but deeply focused inside, sharing my happy casual cosplay time with everyone.
