[Dori Cosplay] Genshin Impact Sumeru Group Photoshoot Behind-the-scenes: Shooting with Alhaitham and Kaveh Despite Missing Glasses - Image 1

This Sumeru cosplay group photoshoot was something we had been planning for a long time, featuring the three of us: Dori, Alhaitham, and Kaveh. Even though I lost my glasses during the shoot, filming couldn't be stopped! Genshin Impact's Sumeru setting is full of charm, and combining Dori's lively personality, Alhaitham's cool detachment, and Kaveh's expressive flair made this group photoshoot immensely fun.

Speaking of styling and makeup, Dori's long pink hair and headpiece took a lot of effort. The wig fibers were smooth, but we tried several hair accessories before achieving that wealthy merchant aura. To faithfully recreate the character's signature look, we matched the star ornament on her hat and pink edge details as closely as possible. Alhaitham and Kaveh's hairstyles also took plenty of styling; Kaveh's hair color and side strands were airbrushed with matte dyes, meticulously trimmed and set by the wig stylist to create a fluffy, 3D volume. Outfit-wise, Dori's midriff-baring top and golden accessories showed great texture under outdoor lighting, paired with a black-and-white geometric neckline to showcase intricate craftsmanship. Alhaitham's black-and-green attire with leather gloves, alongside Kaveh's flowy white top and blue-and-gold ornaments, made the trio look perfectly matched as a Sumeru team. We even brought small lanterns and decorative books as props—though not all were used, preparing them deepened our character comprehension.

The outdoor lighting on the day of filming was somewhat unstable, as the afternoon sun shifted rapidly. Achieving translucent face lighting required hunting for light filtering through forest gaps. We adjusted our positions multiple times to ensure balanced fill light across all three faces, where the photographer was a huge help. The funniest part was that my non-prescription glasses vanished during a scene shift. Everyone was searching for them, guessing they dropped into the grass. I crouched down and searched for ages without catching a glimpse! Unable to find them, I decided to shoot without them—glasses weren't strictly mandatory for this look, and Dori's character design is memorable enough anyway. It ended up being a genuinely funny note in our group photoshoot behind-the-scenes.

The photographer suggested several intimate interactive poses, such as the two framing an arch with their raised arms above their heads while I stood close between them. Holding our arms up to maintain that arch for nearly ten minutes made our shoulders sore, but seeing the final composition, that framing effect vividly conveyed group energy—like a special Sumeru team photo! Our chemistry was seamless: Alhaitham's cool, handsome indifference, Kaveh's confident charisma, and Dori's lively energy allowed us to easily immerse into character and narrative. The behind-the-scenes featured many vivid moments—helping each other hold props between scenes, discussing poses to look more natural and character-accurate, and even coordinating line-of-sight directions.

Though outdoor filming meant uneven terrain, we walked through tall grass for a long time to locate the perfect forest backdrop. Our shoes gathered dust and dirt, yet this added an authentic feel. Such raw filming effort is often the most engaging part of casual cosplay group logs. Everyone valued this Sumeru group photoshoot tremendously; prop craftsmanship was meticulous rather than rushed. From chest insignia to sleeve gauntlets, everything adhered closely to lore to ensure strong raw camera outputs even before post-retouching. Seeing final photos proved that all preparation paid off, producing brilliant group synergy.

The most captivating part of a group photoshoot is the narrative synergy among characters. Individually, each photo might just be a beautiful solo portrait; together, they evoke story and atmosphere. While losing my glasses on-site was frustrating at first, it became the most memorable blooper in these behind-the-scenes notes—looking back at these photos in the future will surely remind us of the chaotic glasses search. This raw authenticity serves as a unique keepsake. The experience was fantastic and deepened my appreciation for this Sumeru trio, whose dynamics unlocked creative freedom and fresh expressions.
