[Cartethyia Cosplay] A Serene Moment in the Morning Light: Wuthering Waves Casual Cosplay

Natural light from outside happened to filter through the window pane onto the white bedsheets, setting the calm tone for today's Indoor photography session. Instead of an intricate studio setup, the window before me, the patch of green lawn outside, and an open book by my side became the most natural elements for this Casual cosplay shoot.

This time, I cosplayed Cartethyia from Wuthering Waves, and this outfit is packed with intricate details. Hidden within the black-and-white tailored cut are metallic neckline accents and crisscross strap designs across the chest. Arranging those crossing straps takes quite some time: they need to hug the body's contours snugly without leaving noticeable indentations, making tension adjustment a true test of patience. The shoulders feature an exposed cut, where the silver choker along the edge contrasts sharply with the sheer blue sleeve covers. The blue gradient fabric draping behind the head and spliced onto the arms is remarkably lightweight, rippling like water at the slightest movement; to keep it from tangling during shooting, I had to constantly mind its placement to showcase its flowing extension. The gold and silver ring ornaments around the ankles are also delicate and light, serving as wonderful visual accents against the white bedsheet.

The hair is a very pale creamy blonde, which, paired with the blue crystal hairpieces, keeps the overall palette clean and translucent. To match the airy lightness of this outfit, the makeup steered clear of heavy colors, focusing instead on the eyeshadow and lip tint. A very soft blue-pink gradient on the eyelids gave the gaze a gentler, more dreamlike Anime girl charm, while the base foundation was kept matte and clean. This prevented any shiny oiliness under natural light, bringing out an airy, translucent texture.

We shot two main poses today: the playful charm of raising both hands in the second photo, and the serene tranquility of fingertips lightly touching the lips in the cover photo. Although they seem simple, the seated posture rigorously tests core strength. While maintaining a relaxed seated posture, you have to extend your leg lines naturally and point your instep firmly, allowing the shorts to highlight long, slender proportions. I particularly love the cover shot—when my fingers casually rested near my lips and my eyes locked onto the lens, that subtly mysterious yet ethereal aura emerged instantly. Throughout the shoot, the photographer kept guiding me to stabilize my center of gravity to avoid leaning back and shifting the costume. The white bedsheets were equally vital; the vast expanse of clean white emphasized the subject's presence cleanly.

This kind of Casual cosplay log allows for greater relaxation. Free from rigid, cold studio strobes and relying entirely on natural daylight through the window, skin tones look much softer and more organic. Presenting an Anime girl character in a simple everyday setting can often feel more resonant than grand, exaggerated special effects. In this shoot, I also sought to blend Cartethyia's unique quiet serenity into a realistic home atmosphere, as if she truly exists in our daily lives, savoring a peaceful afternoon. Although there were small hiccups during shooting—such as rapid shifts in outdoor daylight requiring constant angle adjustments—seeing the final photos made me genuinely happy. This experience reminded me that the joy of cosplay lies not only in replicating character outfits, but also in utilizing real-world environments to craft a space unique to the character. Sorting through the album afterward, both photos had their merits, but considering the impact of social media cover previews, I selected the first one because its expression and gesture are more eye-catching and best embody the mood this outfit conveys in Wuthering Waves.
