[Seiga Nyannyan cosplay] Touhou Project: Serene Moments in the Courtyard

This shoot featured Seiga Nyannyan from Touhou Project, set inside a traditional Japanese room. The wooden flooring paired with sliding paper shoji doors, bright green plants outside, and a relatively dim interior together created a serene, tranquil ambiance.

In terms of costume, the white dress is somewhat translucent, requiring special attention to angles when sitting on the low wooden stool. The paired White stockings provided little friction on the wooden floor, demanding great care when moving and posing. The long pipe prop had a balanced weight, but the key lay in capturing the flowing motion of smoke, testing multiple pipe angles to let the white smoke drift naturally.

The biggest challenge of this Japanese-style photography shoot was managing light and shadow. The photographer cast a beam of eerie blue light from the left, which combined with artificial smoke to build a mystical atmosphere, while natural light filtered through the lattice sliding doors from behind to produce a pleasant backlighting effect. This interplay of warm and cool light tested both on-set camera positioning and post-color grading, but fortunately, the dimensional color layers emerged nicely. The black tea bowl on the foreground wooden table and the subtle sheen across the tabletop added rich texture, creating depth against the bright courtyard in the background.

During the shoot, I strove for a relaxed posture without looking stiff or losing tension, maintaining the skirt's drape and body silhouette. Sitting sideways with crossed legs enhanced the leg lines under reflective lighting; holding one pose for so long was physically demanding by the end. Overall, this enclosed-space Japanese-style photography experience was unique, testing the photographer's mastery of localized lighting while teaching me valuable techniques for coordinating gaze and body language.
