Straight from the Scarlet Devil Mansion library—which is the studio environment for my Patchouli Knowledge shoot this time—let me share with everyone this set of "Mukyu" outfit completed in the study room. The main difficulty of this purple-haired witch dress lies in the layers of lace and bows, and the pink and blue color scheme beautifully restores the setting of the owner of The Immovable Great Library. Paired with a small chain, half-frame glasses, and a thick-based wig, the overall vintage academy vibe comes right out.
During the shoot, I intentionally chose a real-scene study because the atmosphere created by real wooden bookshelves and a leather sofa is much more comfortable than simply pulling up a background cloth in a studio. Throughout the shooting process of this Library photoshoot, I had to hold books while adjusting the positions of the quill and glasses; Patchouli's intellectual and elegant feel is truly supported by these prop details. For light and shadow, we used a warm-toned side light, and in post-processing, we retained some shadow details of the bookshelves, giving the frame a feeling of afternoon sunlight leaking in.
Touhou Project characters have always had high freedom and design space in terms of costumes, so even for the same setting, you can shoot different vibes in a real-scene location. The focus this time was to realize the scholarly aura and laziness as much as possible, while also taking into account the visual aesthetics of anime cosplay. The headwear and hairstyle look especially good in group photos and close-up shots; although it has a certain weight when worn, the final photos did not disappoint this carefully prepared gear. I look forward to finding a shooting location that fits the character's atmosphere even better next time.
