[Xio Derecha Cosplay] Lord of Mysteries: Lantern and Short Sword, Tarot Club Birthday Celebration Night

This set of photos for Xio Derecha cosplay is indeed the most fitting release on Klein's birthday.

Underneath the insoles are even thicker insoles; although this getup truly heightens me significantly in terms of visuals, I know everyone here cares more about the temperament of this outfit itself and the scene design. I specially chose this black-and-white layered look with a strong Vintage Gothic style, featuring a white shirt paired with a black vest with brown straps, and that red-bottomed gold badge on the chest. Every single detail carries a sense of low-key luxury. The combination of black leather pants and distressed tall boots not only highlights the crisp lines of the lower wear but also preserves the mobility of being a Tarot Club member who can jump into battle at any time.

A lot of detailed considerations also went into the set design for this shoot. The Gothic-style black ironwork patterned background, paired with warm yellow background lights, seems to radiate some kind of strange energy. The spreading iron chains and red roses scattered across the black-and-white checkerboard floor enhance the narrative sense of the frame. The shooting props also specially included this vintage lantern with a warm light source; when holding it above my head, the texture of the skin is instantly brought out with more depth at the junction of light and dark.

Speaking of makeup and styling, to fit this deep and mysterious worldview, I chose an earth-toned smoky eye makeup to deepen the eyes, paired with light blonde textured hair and that iconic ahoge on top of my head, striving to give the overall look higher recognition. During the shooting process, because the leather pants and boots both have high reflectivity, the photographer and I also spent some effort finding the optimal exposure angles, so that the texture of the pants could reflect the tight-fitting effect of the material while avoiding excessive glare that would ruin the frame's texture.

Furthermore, as a player and coser, I deeply know what the core of grasping the character's atmosphere is. When facing the lens, besides the stretching of posture, what's more important is for the eyes to reveal the rationality and vigilance, even a certain sense of detachment, belonging to Xio Derecha. When holding the lantern with crossed arms, it must reflect an unhurried composure; and when gripping that elegantly styled short sword with one hand, the force and angle must display a posture ready for defense at any moment.

Speaking of Klein and the Tarot Club, when restoring this anime character and this Cthulhu fantasy atmosphere, a lot of our energy was actually spent on how to convey that static oppression of wind blowing through iron windows and flickering candlelight within a still photo. The leather pants material is relatively stiff; when doing large-scale movements like kneeling on the ground or turning back to glance, it was necessary to consider not only the physical tension but also to avoid wrinkling the clothing and ruining the crispness of the frame.

Fortunately, the final results exceeded my expectations. The light, shadow, props, and poses in this set of photos together constitute a complete logic of the scene. Although the birthday timeline was tight, being able to share the most suitable frames for her on this day is uniquely meaningful. I hope this atmospheric photography of interweaving light and shadow can bring everyone a different visual experience.
