What first attracted me to this Touhou Project Moriya Suwako cosplay costume was its overall temperament. The deep purple jacquard fabric has an incredible texture, refracting subtle changes of light and shadow under different lighting. This woven-in pattern and texture prevent the fabric from looking thin, instead giving it a profound, vintage flavor. The top features a sleeveless round-neck design, but the neckline is stitched with a ruffled white inner collar, creating an exceptionally well-handled layering between the inner and outer garments. The entire white shirt is one of the highlights of this costume, especially its extremely exaggerated, wide flared sleeves. When trying it on, I found that the cut of the sleeves is sufficiently massive, presenting an elegant curve when draping naturally. The cuffs are not a simple raw edge; instead, they are inlaid with beautiful and delicate white lace trim. The lace edge features a thin purple piping as an outline, with two tiny purple bows tied at the very bottom of the cuff. This detail elevates the refinement of the entire outfit to another level.
Looking at the sides of the garment, the left and right sides of the top use deep brown or dark red thick cords for criss-cross lacing. This design is quite common in ancient clothing and kimonos, and it is cleverly integrated here, fulfilling the functional need of tightening the waist while adding a touch of classic, structured toughness to the overall look. The skirt portion adopts a very classic pleated A-line mini-skirt silhouette, with the pleats handled in a regular and dense pattern so that it doesn't look overly poofy when worn, thereby avoiding a bulky appearance. A semi-translucent white lace trim is stitched along the skirt hem, forming a wonderful color balance with the white shirt of the top.
In terms of embroidery craftsmanship, the patterns on the right shoulder of the top and the front of the skirt hem are highly eye-catching. They feature exquisite embroidery with white-and-purple gradients and cyan-green tones. The lines of the patterns are coherent and smooth, looking visually like traditional auspicious clouds or modified mythical beasts. Complemented by the dark purple base fabric of the entire set, it carries a powerful sense of Eastern mystery. This attire is also paired with a highly conspicuous wide-brimmed, flat-topped straw hat. The hat is a light wheat-yellow color with a delicate texture. The most captivating part is the two distinct black-and-white cartoon giant eyes standing upright on top of the hat. This iconic accessory directly points out Suwako's frog element in Touhou Project, injecting a bit of playfulness and fairy-tale vibe into an outfit that is otherwise slightly elegant and mysterious.
Standing at 166cm tall, when considering the actual wearing effect of this outfit, this high-waisted short skirt combined with long, wide-cuffed sleeves visually makes the legs look exceptionally long. The length of the skirt hem, resting above the mid-thigh, preserves the character's youthful girl vibe without risking accidental exposure from being too short. Furthermore, the convenience of outdoor shooting is also very important; besides adding points to the styling, the wide brim of the straw hat provides great sun protection outdoors. This clothing set is currently waiting for Sensen Xian's official sale, but judging by the overall silhouette, stitching, and choice of accessories of the sample garment, I am full of anticipation for this cosplay shoot. I will also design the makeup this time to match this violet-toned outfit, striving to make the overall sense of atmosphere even more unified.
