I finally received the Convention photos for Qingxiao from Wuthering Waves! Ever since I first got this outfit, I kept turning over in my mind how to faithfully capture Qingxiao's otherworldly, ethereal grace in a bustling convention setting. The costume revolves around a clean white-and-blue color scheme, split between matte base fabrics and delicate, semi-sheer overlay textiles—giving the outer sheer veil and sweeping train a gorgeous, layered flutter whenever I walked. The skirt is cut quite short, so to complement the overall weightless aesthetic, I selected White stockings and chunky platform heels; this not only elongated leg proportions, but also flatteringly framed dynamic kicks and wide strides. The tactile presence of the metallic accents at the collar and waistline was vital, so I utilized cyan-blue acrylic components to evoke the visual texture of jade and crystal, allowing them to catch flash strobes brilliantly in true alignment with the game's fantasy worldbuilding.
The wig is light blue, styled into two top hair buns paired with semi-translucent ribbons trailing from the ends. In truth, the biggest headache with convention photos is combating frizzy stray hairs; before heading out, I firmly locked the bangs and side strands with hair wax and set everything with heavy-duty styling spray. In terms of makeup, to harmonize with the cool palette, I chose cool-toned hues for both eyeshadow and lip tint, adding a touch of blue-violet at the outer corners of the eyes to echo the wardrobe. Contouring was applied with slightly extra depth, as flat, broad convention lighting easily washes out facial definition.
The sword-shaped prop held in hand was crafted from clear acrylic, which attracts fingerprints with astonishing ease, so I spent nearly every break between takes wiping it down with an eyeglass cloth. The sword is far from lightweight, and holding it steady in one hand while posing genuinely tested core stability. For the full-body shot in Photo 1, I rested my right foot lightly on the ground with my center of gravity anchored on the left leg, holding the sword in my left hand while raising the right slightly. To freeze the exact split second the train billowed in the air, the photographer had me twirl in place and strike a sudden freeze, firing consecutive shutters to seize that wind-swept dynamic tension. Photo 2 features a half-body close-up, framed primarily to showcase the neck chain and intricate chest textile embroideries.
The shooting location was a sprawling indoor convention hall featuring a high ceiling crisscrossed with metallic trusses and circular overhead spotlights. This backdrop carried a distinct industrial edge, creating a sharp aesthetic contrast against the fantastical costume. The photographer positioned a cool-toned fill light for facial illumination; once the background was softly blurred through shallow depth of field, the circular ceiling lights melted into dreamy round bokeh orbs, blending seamlessly with the icy demeanor of the garments. Because ambient hall light was relatively chaotic, the color temperature required careful manual adjustment to render that pristine, translucent blue-and-white tone. What pleased me most about this look was the effortless buoyancy of the train; although standing on high heels all afternoon left my feet thoroughly sore, seeing the fluttering skirt frozen so beautifully in the finished frames made every bit of detail-crafting entirely worthwhile.
