Bringing the character Kasugano Sora into a real-world natural environment has always been a direction I wanted to try for Outdoor photography. Taking advantage of the first sunny day after consecutive days of rain, I finally finished this long-prepared photo set. Compared to studio shoots, outdoor sessions pose much stricter requirements on makeup and hair. To fit Sora's 2D setting, the wig was deliberately layered into high twin-tails and straight bangs, paired with white ribbon bows. To ensure the wig wouldn't get too messy in the outdoor breeze, plenty of styling and hair combing were done beforehand, making the whole process a true test of patience. For the outfit, I chose this white ruffled dress with large cuffs; the detailed textures of the collar and cuffs looked exceptionally clean under natural light. As for props, we specially prepared that black rabbit plush toy and a vintage brown suitcase. Placing them on the bench of the wooden pavilion or letting the suitcase lean against the stone steps by the water immediately adds a narrative feel to the entire picture, as if the character is about to embark on a long journey. The shooting location was an ecological waterway with a wooden corridor structure, where the wooden beams and pillars echoed the colors of the surrounding lush green trees perfectly. The photographer mostly alternated between medium shots and close-ups when capturing moments. While walking along the pebble path by the water, I had to pay constant attention to safety underfoot while maintaining a light and graceful posture. Resting on the wooden chair, simply utilizing the slanted light rays already created a serene and lazy atmosphere. Although the sunlight became blindingly bright midway through the shoot, requiring continuous adjustments to the reflector angles for some backlit shots, this Aesthetic Portrait set ultimately presented an exceptionally soft film texture, carrying a hint of late-summer freshness and the character's unique aloofness. It is not just a simple character restoration, but a hope to recreate that figure waiting alone in the countryside through the blending of light, shadow, and scenery.
