[Takanashi Hoshino cosplay] Blue Archive's lazy cat: Daily quota of cuteness achieved

Today, this Takanashi Hoshino cosplay photoshoot is finally out! The whole shooting process took far more thought than expected. Because Hoshino has such distinct character features, I spent a lot of time dialing in the look. First was cutting and styling the wig: to give the pink twintails that airy yet softly tousled texture, the amount of pomade and hairspray had to be precise, and the layered ends on the sides had to be feathered out bit by bit so they wouldn't stick flat to the scalp and sap the character's lively spirit.

Next came that signature halo above the head, which we achieved using a transparent acrylic mount combined with post-processing clean-up. During shooting, the angle of the bracket and the light falloff were crucial—even a slight tilt would cast unwanted shadows across my face, so we readjusted the fill lights on set multiple times. The plush texture of the cat ears and tail was wonderful; to give the tail a natural, flowing curve in both seated and prone poses, I inserted flexible craft wire inside, ensuring it kept a casual, indolent drape no matter how I moved.

For the wardrobe, I picked an off-white, loose-fitting off-the-shoulder sweatshirt that flattered the lines of the collarbone and shoulders, while the pink paw-print motifs on the sleeves nicely echoed the Catgirl theme. The lower half was paired with over-the-knee White stockings; pairing this generous field of white with the pink wig created a very crisp, clean aesthetic. To complement the character's laid-back yet subtly alluring charm, the makeup emphasized red lower-eyelid shading and lashes, enhanced with color contact lenses to give the eyes a bright, luminous look.

The shooting took place in an indoor setting with bookshelves, a guitar, and a bed—a lived-in environment that perfectly suits Hoshino. We experimented with a variety of poses. When kneeling on the carpet, keeping my back straight with hands resting naturally conveyed an endearing, well-behaved innocence. Later, the photographer suggested leaning over the edge of the bed to use the height difference to elongate my body line, with the over-the-knee White stockings visually slimming and lengthening my legs. To keep movements from feeling stiff, I rested my weight on my arms while glancing back, curving the tail along my side to enrich the visual depth and appeal. Lightly biting my lip or playfully loosely clenching a fist toward the camera helped capture the very essence of her playful cuteness.

The entire shoot was quite a workout for both stamina and facial expressions. Constantly tweaking poses while keeping an effortless, cheerful demeanor before the lens meant taking several breaks throughout. But seeing the final photos made all the sweat worthwhile. From the hair strands of the wig to the fabric folds of the outfit and the smooth transitions of light and shadow, every frame aimed to recreate Hoshino's unique charm. These Convention photos preserve a joyful shooting session, and I hope everyone can feel the care we poured into the styling and props.
