Today's look is Yangyang from Wuthering Waves. The costume is rich with design nuances, featuring a classic blue, black, and white palette: a black bandeau top etched with geometric jacquard underneath, enveloped by wide kimono-style sleeves grading from light blue into pure white. The cloud motifs and flowing tassels along the billowing sleeves add remarkable depth when in motion. The wig incorporates vibrant blue highlights accented with feather headpieces, which, paired with bright blue contact lenses, completely elevates the character presence. To do this styling justice, I deliberately selected a classical garden featuring wooden bridges, stone steps, and flying eaves, seamlessly harmonizing with the garment's Traditional Chinese style cosplay elegance. The sword-wielding poses were calibrated multiple times to balance steadfast stability with the character's ethereal lightness, though balancing in heeled ankle boots on uneven stone steps was quite a core workout. Because the sleeves are exceptionally wide, the drape and fluid movement of the silk became paramount during sword sweeps. After experimenting with numerous angles on site, I found that flinging the sleeves upward from a low-angle shot made the silhouette appear taller while extending the visual reach of the blade. The metallic waist hardware and blue feathers gained gorgeous texture under direct sunlight, though securing those intricate trinkets took considerable effort. The skirt features an asymmetrical split hem paired with chunky-heeled black ankle boots, accentuating leg lines during strides and kicks as a distinct highlight of this look. The overall makeup emphasized a cool, aloof serenity, adjusting eye and lip tones to channel the original game persona. During the shoot, the wind was remarkably strong, billowing through the sleeves and skirt to make every frame dramatically alive. Yangyang represents a gentle yet resolute soul whose lines speak of how the wind preserves scents and memories; facing the wind head-on, I genuinely felt as if I were listening to its whispered secrets. The weather in Xi'an was phenomenal that day, with pristine blue skies and beautifully tiered cloud cover. Having scouted the steps and bridgehead beforehand, the wooden railings and ancient architecture formed an exquisite sense of spatial depth. Shooting in natural outdoor sunlight introduced harsh contrasts between highlights and shadows, requiring continuous exposure metering to prevent facial overexposure. Holding the sword stances proved physically demanding since the weapon carries tangible weight, requiring locked wrists and an upright carriage. Lifting the blade with one hand allowed the wide sleeve to slide down and bare the forearm—a candid detail that added dynamic tension to the composition. Several poses involved lifting one leg; while appearing effortless and weightless on camera, they required intense core engagement to maintain balance. The wind was truly our finest prop that day, catching the sleeves and gown whenever a gust arose. Though it occasionally ruffled the wig, it captured wonderfully organic, kinetic moments most of the time. Listening to the rustling breeze through the foliage resonated deeply with my understanding of this character, making every bit of effort worthwhile. The entire shoot was an absolute joy, with the photographer capturing countless dynamic moments. This cosplay photoshoot has been in the works for a while, and I'm thrilled to finally release it.
