I finally got around to organizing and archiving this set shot earlier in the white cyclorama studio. This Plum Blossom Amu form of Amu Hinamori from Shugo Chara! was something I found utterly adorable the moment I unboxed the outfit. The costume is built around a beautifully textured green-and-white color palette. The skirt features a classic pumpkin silhouette complemented by voluminous puff sleeves and delicate white ruffles trimming the hemline. To support this structured shape, I wore a petticoat underneath, lending the entire silhouette a charmingly rounded and cute volume. The white pinafore apron across the bodice is layered with dense ruffled flounces, finished with two crisp white bows tied at the flanks.
The headwear is remarkably ornate: a soft mob cap trimmed with delicate lace borders and extensive gathers, accented by green bows on both sides and an eye-catching green plum blossom felt hairpin. For the wig, I selected a pastel pink twin-tail style, which requires generous mistings of hairspray during routine styling to maintain its defined volume. To complement the character, the makeup emphasized soft pink blush and earthy pink-toned eyeshadow, paired with contact lenses that naturally enlarged the eyes.
A huge thank you to Teacher Lizi for this studio session. The biggest advantage of shooting against a pure white studio backdrop is the clean, unpolluted illumination; light bouncing off the reflectors cast exceptionally soft, flattering shadows across my face. To showcase the flare of the skirt, I stood atop a white cylindrical prop plinth. For legwear, I wore White stockings paired with green block-heel Mary Janes, whose crisscross strap design added a delightful retro touch. Because the skirt carries noticeable weight, standing balanced atop the plinth required keeping my core engaged throughout.
For props, I brought along a green egg prop and a pink magical wand shaped like a kitchen whisk. The base of the whisk is adorned with a green bow and pearl accents, giving it satisfying heft in hand. During the shoot, I explored a variety of poses—holding the whisk alongside my cheek or clasping it before my chest with both hands. Occasionally, I turned my torso gently to let the hemline flare outward. Although the set was minimalist, the costume's intricate details made every frame look rich and full.
The entire shoot flowed seamlessly; the purity of a white studio truly maximizes the vibrancy of the costume's colors, while offering effortless flexibility for post-production color grading.
