[Ruan Mei Cosplay] The Ancient Style Charm of Honkai: Star Rail

This is a set of Ruan Mei cosplay photos shot a year and a half ago, which has never been posted on this account. When I first received this costume, my first impression was that it was incredibly rich in traditional elements; the blue, white, and gold color scheme has a wonderful texture under the light and shadow, and the cold-shoulder design preserves her elegance while adding a touch of liveliness. For props, I experimented with a ruan (plucked string instrument) and a folding fan for this shoot, as different hand-held props can instantly bring out a distinct character atmosphere. The scene setup for the shoot used a lot of woven curtains, red berry branches, and wooden grilles. The warm ambient lighting added a touch of gentleness to the originally cool blue outfit, making the whole setting fit beautifully with the character's gentle and graceful temperament. I remember when shooting this set, to capture the unhurried essence that truly represents Ruan Mei, I repeatedly adjusted my poses many times. Although the final photos look relaxed and natural, on set I actually needed to maintain core expressiveness at all times, as soft satin fabrics and edge accessories can easily look cluttered in motion. Looking back at this work from a year and a half ago, I feel the interpretation back then was a bit unpolished, but these records actually witness the evolution of my understanding of the character. In two weeks, I'll be heading out to shoot Ruan Mei's new skin. I am incredibly excited to see what sparks will fly in the new setting and scenes, and I hope to capture a more vivid side this time through ancient style photography. As a cosplay enthusiast, every interpretation of a new skin feels like a brand-new dialogue with the character, and this process of exploration is highly captivating in itself.
