For this Honkai: Star Rail Herta cosplay, the photos capture my Cosplay daily life state through indoor mirror selfies. The core of this styling lies in controlling garment layers and accessory details; a Silver hair cosplay wig paired with matching purple contact lenses delineates the character's primary traits. For makeup, beyond detailed eye styling, I chose a natural nude pink lip color to keep the overall face clean and refined.
The upper body's glossy black crisscross corset forms the centerpiece of this Wizard costume, splicing matte leather with black mesh and supported by a rigid boned structure, featuring distinct sheer cutouts on the sides. The oversized white lace ruffled sleeves create a striking black-and-white contrast as well as a juxtaposition between soft and structured fabrics, enriching the visual layering. The studded leather choker fits snugly around the neck, highlighting necklines while channeling a hint of the character's signature haughtiness. The wide purple wizard hat boasts a commanding presence as well, adorned with black magic sigil prints and layered with deep-blue-to-purple gradient flower ornaments along the side; finding its balance point when securing it was essential to prevent it from tilting during selfies.
For the shooting location, I chose a window corner with even indoor light, using natural diffuse reflection to beautifully render the leather luster of the corset and the sheer translucency of the mesh while avoiding harsh shadows from direct light. I took this set of selfies holding my phone, where the illustrated design on the phone case subtly echoed the overall styling. In composition, I intentionally sought angles to accentuate the collarbones, shoulders, and sheer side mesh of the corset, while controlling wide-angle lens distortion to fit the shoulders and hat brim completely into the frame.
From material selection to tailoring adjustments, this outfit required significant time—especially the shaping effect of the corset and the dropped-shoulder silhouette of the ruffled sleeves. The Silver hair cosplay wig was also trimmed with layers to ensure the bangs' curvature reveals clear facial contours. When doing this kind of mirror selfie, the priority is minimizing excessive post-retouching, leaning instead toward preserving authentic fabric textures and makeup realism, directly presenting the styling's completeness through the mirror. Once fully suited up, the gear carries genuine weight—especially the support of the wizard hat and the cinched tightness of the corset—requiring ongoing posture adjustments during the shoot. Yet having chosen this character, no costume detail could be neglected; the dominant purple palette paired with black and white packs substantial visual impact, holding the frame effortlessly in mirror selfies without complex studio backdrops, carried purely by this magical Wizard costume. Completing this shoot deepened my familiarity with the high styling standards demanded by such characters, and the overall outcome of this Cosplay daily life session is very satisfying.
