Today's Bai Feng styling was visually anchored by a modified traditional Chinese aesthetic in a monochrome black-and-white palette. To harmonize with the character's persona, I deepened the reddish flush at the outer corners of the eyes during makeup, aiming to convey a cold elegance laced with subtle mystique. Managing the wig took more effort than anticipated—particularly the pair of white horn-like hair ornaments on the crown, which required continuous angle adjustments to avoid exposing support clips across different camera marks. The set was arranged in a studio featuring wooden latticework and a moon gate backdrop; soft, dusky blue illumination filtered through behind, forging sharp chiaroscuro contrast against the white garments.

The tailoring of the outfit is rather distinctive: the wide-sleeved robe boasts a graceful, fluid drape, but tends to bunch into heavy wrinkles when seated. To keep the compositions clean, the hem had to be carefully smoothed every time I sat down. The combination of black micro-shorts worn beneath pure white pantyhose White stockings formed strong chromatic tension. Such pairing heavily tests lighting execution before the lens—if the key light is too harsh, white hosiery easily reflects glare and broadens proportions. Therefore, we adjusted the main strobe angle and diffused it through a softbox to ensure smooth, natural transitions along the leg lines. The monochrome collar around the neck and the white cord knot adorning the chest served as the defining focal points, instantly bringing out the character's signature presence.

Throughout the shoot, the greatest challenge lay in interacting with props. In Photo 3, cradling a thread-bound ancient volume while stepping over bamboo slips demanded solid core stability to balance posture, elongate leg lines naturally, and preserve a tranquil facial expression. In Photo 2, holding a small white object in my palm while wearing the relatively heavy wings prop required engaged shoulder and back muscles to keep the plumage spread wide and majestic. To prevent flyaways on camera, we smoothed the wig with a comb before every pose shift, paying particular attention to stray strands along the edges.

The session was physically taxing, but seeing how light filtered through the sleeves onto the wooden floor—harmonizing with the surrounding bamboo slips and classical backdrop alongside the garment's innate structural depth—made every adjustment worthwhile. When portraying a fantasy-infused historical character in Ancient style photography, mastering that delicate balance of stillness within motion is paramount. From the focal point of the gaze to subtle physical extensions, poise must stay faithful to the lore—neither overly fragile nor unyieldingly rigid.

During retouching, I preserved authentic skin texture and tactile fabric weave without excessive skin smoothing, striving for a genuine, high-fidelity finish. The texture of the White stockings was faithfully retained without over-brightening, preserving clear dimensional separation from the background. Most compositions favored centered or slightly offset framing, allowing the figure to stand out prominently without clashing against the traditional environment. From hair and makeup to wardrobe and scene props, every effort aimed to translate that singular aesthetic from 2D into reality.
