[Kafka cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: Lazy and Dangerous Stellaron Hunter in Cosplay Convention Photos

[Convention photos] "...Hmm, you caught me..."

Finally got the raw photos from the photographer for this set of Kafka cosplay convention photos taken at Aqua City! It was truly a faithful and comfortable photoshoot experience.

While preparing this costume, I kept pondering how to balance Kafka's fighting elegance with her leisure lethargy through movements and expressions. So besides bringing along her signature silver-grip prop gun, I made several deliberate adjustments to my hand gestures. For example, the pose with crossed hands shown in the pictures presents the layered look between coat and shirt more naturally, while highlighting the attractive texture of these magenta long gloves. The black round sunglasses on top of my head served as a fun touch—usually pushed up as decoration and occasionally taken off as a styling element. Many fellow fans asked if they blocked my vision, but they were mainly for character design traits and made adjusting angles according to the lens easier on set.

The moment I held the prop gun, the vibe instantly came alive. Especially in the fourth picture, slinging it over my shoulder required finding the right balance point; paired with inner shirt lines and the broken geometric white prints on the coat, an action-oriented aura immediately emerged. The small white butterfly brooch at the collar and gold shield-shaped metal buckles at the waist were huge pluses. The waist design, combined with black high-waisted leather shorts and that purple-pink stockings cosplay with spliced lines and mesh patterns, visually elongated leg lines nicely. In a complex indoor lighting environment like an anime convention, the photographer used a wide aperture to blur out the cluttered background, pulling all attention back to the character for a crisp, clean output.

As for makeup and hair, the eye makeup took the most effort this time. Pink contact lenses paired with lighter color tones preserved her delicate yet slightly distant gaze. Selecting contact lens size considered live venue lighting, avoiding exaggerated dimensions to look sharper and hunter-like on camera. The shooting process went quite fast because Aqua City's light distribution was distinctive; we picked areas with cool color contrast so the high-saturation magenta and pink-purple on the outfit stood out against the backdrop without being jarring.

As a cosplayer who frequently frequents conventions, I really enjoy documenting these Cosplay convention photos. Compared to elaborately staged studio shoots, convention photos often capture more natural and vivid moments. Crowds and unexpected occurrences on site actually yield surprisingly great compositions. Every time the shutter clicked, I tried my best to immerse in the character's emotion, avoiding overly complex forced poses and relying instead on subtle details like head tilt angles or arm height to recreate Kafka's calm, unhurried action style from Honkai: Star Rail lore. The costume fabric also stood up to scrutiny—the large area of magenta lining inside the dark sleeveless coat created a flowing sense of color when waving my arms, making it an exceptionally eye-catching feature.
