This set of Hyacinthia cosplay photos is finally ready to meet everyone. Actually, from getting this costume to the official shoot, we went through a lot of twists and turns, but I think it was totally worth it to ultimately present such a picture of a clear, boundless sky.
Let's talk about the costume and wig first. What attracted me most about this look of Hyacinthia is that kind of sweetness with a touch of coolness. The wig is pink twin-tails, with the hair ends given a light blue gradient highlight; once put on, it instantly brings out that lively, skipping temperament. The costume is highly layered, with a white inner layer paired with a wine-red outer garment, plus golden embroidery patterns, making the texture absolutely excellent. Especially the light blue bow at the neckline and the golden decorations on the cuffs make the entire upper body look exquisite without being too heavy. After putting it on, I turned around a few times in front of the mirror; that wine-red cape with golden edges truly has some weight, and draping it on gives a feeling of being ready to soar with the wind at any second.
The core prop for this shoot is this magic wand. The wand is rich in details, with a blue vortex and a golden frame at the top, and it's also adorned with a pink bow in the middle; the overall color scheme echoes the costume very well. When holding the staff, I particularly love that single-leg standing posture—with the center of gravity slightly on one leg, the other leg gently raised, the staff held high, and the cape naturally fluttering, that exact moment felt like I could truly summon some kind of storm.
For the scene setup, we didn't choose overly complex outdoor locations but instead built two indoor sets. One is the floral picture frame theme, stacking blue and pink flowers to create a dreamy atmosphere, adding a golden picture frame as the foreground to construct a fairy-tale-like oil painting feel. The other is the afternoon tea theme, where a white round table is paired with exquisite tea pastries and white porcelain cups, alongside a giant white rabbit plushie right beside it, instantly turning the atmosphere warm and soft. During the shoot, I also particularly loved that pale pink large bow cushion and the brown teddy bear; that fluffy texture completely relaxed me, turning the shooting process into pure enjoyment.
Regarding the control of light, I specifically wanted that "parting the clouds to see the sun" effect this time. Therefore, when setting up the lights, we used a relatively warm soft light as the main light source, while supplementing the edges with a cool-colored rim light, allowing the frame to have a clear-sky-like brightness without losing its layers. Especially those details on the skirt hem and cape, under the illumination of the light, the gold threads and silver borders would slightly reflect light, and the effect genuinely exceeded expectations.
Of course, what leaves me most satisfied in this styling is also the leg pairing. Pure white tights combined with black glossy small leather shoes, with small, ingenious embellishments of black bows and red laces at the ankles; this color scheme is both clean and a bit playful. When taking photos, I deliberately utilized some sitting postures and leg-lifting movements, letting the white thigh-highs outfit present a natural extension in the frame, which, cooperating with the folds of the skirt hem, makes the overall composition look richer in depth of field.
The shooting process was quite a test of stamina, especially when holding up the staff to do various dynamic poses, needing to constantly adjust the center of gravity while keeping the expressions lively. For example, for that single-leg standing pose in Photo 4, I repeatedly tried multiple times to find the sturdiest support point while controlling the fluttering curve of the cape. However, the photographer was excellent at catching shots; whenever I was in my best state, the shutter clicked, which was a great display of chemistry.
Actually, when organizing these photos, I kept reflecting on my state on the day of the shoot. Although quite a lot of time was delayed in the middle due to prop assembly and light adjustments, when I truly stood in front of the lens, wearing this suit of Hyacinthia's clothes, holding the staff, and looking at those pink and blue flowers in the scene, my mood would follow and turn exceptionally bright. Just like what I wrote in my post, storms are frequent, but the clear sky is always in the heart. Although this set of photos cannot 100% recreate every single detail from the game, I have tried my best to transmit my understanding of the character Hyacinthia through movements and expressions.
Lastly, I want to say that Anime cosplay to me is not just a role-play, but a creation regarding color, composition, and emotional expression. Hope you guys viewing this set of photos can also perceive that open sense of breaking through the wind and rain to meet the clear sky. This dreamy photography experience was absolutely wonderful, leaving me with even more expectations for the next creation.
