For this Christmas cosplay photoshoot of Saber Nero, I used the classic costume style from the FGO Fate setting as a base while incorporating plenty of festive elements. The red mini skirt with white plush trim, paired with white stockings and red Mary Jane shoes, was a deliberate styling choice to stay true to the character while embracing the holiday spirit. The combination of white stockings and red shoes effectively elongated the leg lines on camera—a detail I prioritized because I wanted to capture both the character's core aura and enrich her presence with visual cuteness and appeal in this festive scene.
The shooting location was an indoor studio featuring a white fireplace and dark wooden cabinets. To create a cozy atmosphere, we spread a plush gray shag rug in front of the fireplace, accented with gift boxes wrapped in red and green ribbons, a woven flower basket with dried flowers, and a golden cut-out birdcage. Because of the cold weather, wearing this Christmas outfit took serious endurance; however, surrounded by warm lighting and holding props like a mini cake decorated with a Christmas tree and a snowman plushie, the entire process felt delightfully immersive.
For pose design, I experimented with various angles to highlight the charm of the costume and white stockings. These included stretching my legs out while sitting on the rug, tugging on the brim of the Santa hat, or extending my legs forward to showcase body proportions against the red shoes. Poses like clasping hands, holding a spoon in my mouth while tasting cake, and cuddling the snowman plushie added visual depth and enhanced the character's playful holiday vibe.
In terms of makeup and hair, the blonde wig with blunt bangs, paired with emerald green contacts and reddish eyeshadow, brought me visually closer to the FGO Fate design. To maintain dynamic expressions throughout the shoot, I continually relaxed and adjusted my posture between shots. Leaning into cozy props like the plush rug allowed for natural, relaxed body language rather than stiff posing. I also collaborated closely with the photographer on the lighting setup, using side light and warm yellow key lights on my face to accentuate fair skin against the vivid red dress.
The thematic atmosphere was clear: delivering a warm, gorgeous, and slightly theatrical winter character portrayal. Even without actual snow, the red Christmas outfit, white stockings, and carefully curated props naturally evoked the romantic and celebratory feel of Christmas Eve.
