[Flandre Scarlet cosplay] Touhou Project: Scarlet Devil Mansion's Tomato & Scrambled Egg Operation

Wearing this red-and-white Lolita dress truly makes me feel like a ripe tomato! The overall shooting process for these 360-degree circular Convention photos was incredibly fun. The styling centers on a high-contrast red, white, and black palette. Starting with the garment itself, the red jacquard fabric has wonderful texture that resists wrinkling, revealing subtle weave patterns under the lights. The corset bodice cinches the upper body tightly, perfectly supporting the white lace trim atop the voluminous skirt. Multiple tiers of ruffles along the hemline create dynamic depth as I move. The neckline features a tied choker, while the unique detached flare sleeves are secured with transparent shoulder straps, adding pleasing upper-body volume from side angles. Moving to headwear and makeup: a large white-and-red bonnet adorned with side red-and-black bows and black roses adds weight yet delivers exquisite decorative charm. Golden wavy long hair paired with red-brown eyeshadow and crimson lips lengthens the eyes, giving my gaze an intense, penetrating presence. The bold contrast of red and yellow is unmistakable—no wonder people tease this look as 'tomato and scrambled eggs', perfectly fitting the nickname mentioned in the post.

For props, the red apple and black bear plush were key focal points throughout the shoot. I held the red apple in one hand while cradling the black bear, with a semicircular wing frame behind me strung with sparkling diamond-shaped crystals in red, yellow, green, cyan, blue, and purple. These props were quite heavy, especially the rear frame, requiring careful balance to prevent swinging. Next are the outfit details you might care about most: I intentionally chose white lace thigh-high White stockings for the lower body, which not only brightened the deep red palette but also beautifully flattered leg lines. The matching chunky red heels featured ribbons, seamlessly unifying the dress style. By alternating between sitting and standing—like extending a leg while seated on a high stool or tiptoeing atop a white cylinder—the lace patterns on the stockings and shoe contours were showcased to their fullest.

We encountered a few hiccups during shooting. For instance, the long colorful crystal pendant behind me easily swept against the floor, demanding constant angle checks. The black bear almost slipped, and the skirt hem caught on the stool a few times, so posing required utmost caution. To preserve the skirt's puffiness, a hidden petticoat was structured underneath; every time I stood up or sat down, the white lace trim needed straightening to keep it falling smoothly for clean framing. As these were circular convention captures and the hall background was overly bright and cluttered, the photographer opted for active backlit fill lighting, letting light strike my hair and the crystal gems to create a subtle luminous glow. With dense crowds around, we constantly shifted spots to find clean backdrops, making the shoot a true physical workout. However, the final visual interplay of light, shadow, and posing was spot on, faithfully rendering fabric textures and stocking details. Bringing such a vibrant 2D character to life at an anime convention was a truly special experience. Reviewing the camera previews afterward, the color coordination looked fantastic on lens—especially this deeper crimson shade, combining fairy-tale charm with delicate craftsmanship that perfectly matched this Touhou Project character's costume and prop design.
