This official photo set for Love as Before (Love as Before cosplay) is finally here for everyone to see. The color combination of this outfit is timeless—broad crimson expanses framed by white ruffled accents deliver immense visual impact. To achieve faithful fidelity, I poured extensive care into garment craftsmanship. The form-fitting off-the-shoulder bodice accentuates the neck and shoulder contours beautifully, layered with detachable white sleeve puffs bordered by crimson trim to create distinct dimensions. The pleated skirt design paired with a crisp white petticoat lining flutters gorgeously in motion. For the headpiece, those two iconic white pointed horn-like ears, adorned with red bows and white lace trims, required precise angle calibration on the headband to ensure they stayed rock-solid and aesthetically sharp before the camera.
On the cosmetics side, staying true to the 2D anime aesthetic, I wore pink colored contact lenses to capture the character's gaze, deepening and blending the eye makeup to project an intense, focused gaze looking directly into the lens. The crimson choker around my neck featuring a golden geometric pendant centered with a sapphire stone served as the crowning touch, elevating the upper-body details to perfection.
To complement this silhouette, I selected dark pantyhose (Stockings) for the legs, cross-lacing red satin ribbons along the calves. This design not only echoed the overarching red-and-white palette, but introduced a charming, playful edge. For footwear, I slipped into glossy dark-red block-heeled pumps, matching the skirt's hue while offering reliable stability for walking. In full-body shots, this styling effectively elongated the visual leg lines.
For the backdrop, we selected a solid magenta studio cyclorama primarily to accentuate the subject's color saturation, making the red-and-white dress pop vibrantly from the background. In terms of lighting, the photographer used gentle, diffused frontal key lights to render skin tones luminous and translucent while bringing out the fabric's rich texture and the hair's glossy sheen. In terms of posing direction, to capture Love as Before's agile grace, I explored varied spins and freeze-frame motions. That shot where the skirt billows mid-air, for instance, was candidly snapped during a swift pivot, catching the organic, blooming arc of the hemline. Stances balancing on one leg while lightly pinching the skirt edge were equally designed to showcase the garment's tailoring and leg contours.
Throughout the session, I continuously internalized the character's nuanced expression and mindset, striving to convey that blend of sweetness and subtle determination. With every cosplay endeavor—from preparing wardrobe and props to executing the final shoot—it represents a renewed understanding and homage to the character. I hope everyone can feel this heartfelt dedication across this photo set.
