The concept behind this shoot was to capture a cozy moment of respite in the bustling streets of Xianzhou. While March 7th possesses a lively, adorable personality, her outfit is notably refined and dignified, so we decided to portray her in a thoroughly relaxed, lazy state. We set the overall tone to warm amber; as light filtered through her outfit, the red fabrics took on a richer depth while the white elements gained a luminous translucency.
For makeup, the primary focus was on the eyes. Since blue lenses can look distorted under warm lighting, we opted for warm brown and pale gold eyeshadows to neutralize ambient tones, keeping the eyes clean and defined. Styling the wig took considerable care as well. Though the hair buns appear simple, making them look full, natural, and buoyant required teasing the inner hair layers with a steel comb and carefully adjusting every curve before placing hair ornaments.
Regarding props, the rich hue of purple grapes paired wonderfully with a blue-glazed saucer, offering a refreshing cool accent amidst the warm lighting. We selected pale yellow flower stems rather than vibrant blooms to maintain a low-saturation, high-texture aesthetic. The photographer paid close attention to details—ensuring the gold collar ornaments caught the primary light to brighten the overall frame through natural reflections without overexposing her face. The black leather gloves added a sleek, crisp edge to an otherwise soft composition.
We chose medium and close-up framing to balance facial expressions with prop interactions. Sunlight filtering through windows or curtains onto the fine facial fuzz created a heartwarming, comforting feel. As a creator, I hoped to convey the serenity of a character taking a brief pause during a hectic journey. We faced a few minor challenges during the session; for instance, the wide lantern sleeves made picking up props or food slightly cumbersome, requiring multiple arm posture adjustments for natural fluidity. Still, the final output feels immensely satisfying—the fabric folds, subtle sheen, and bamboo curtain textures offer rich visual depth. In post-processing, I avoided heavy skin smoothing to preserve natural skin texture that aligns with authentic lighting. From the shadows beneath each grape to the gentle curve of open book pages, I wanted every element to retain its natural shape.
To ensure cohesive visual harmony, the wardrobe choices were thoroughly considered. Though the wide white lantern sleeves were voluminous, controlling fabric folds at the elbow created flattering drape lines. The dark waist sash gathered the waistline nicely, lending a slender silhouette. The black half-finger leather gloves were tailored to fit her hands closely, allowing finger joints and subtle gestures to show naturally whether holding flower stems or resting hands on the table.
The lighting setup was intricate, featuring a side-backlight as the main source supplemented by prop lamps to fill in dark areas. To maintain precise exposure and prevent ambient color cast, the photographer calibrated the white balance to a warm yet natural level. We framed out distracting background wires, leaving only paper lanterns and traditional patterned fabrics. Positioned in the lower right, the dish of deep purple grapes anchored the composition, breaking single-subject monotony while offering a visual resting point. I double-checked the open book in the basket before shooting to ensure crisp focus on the printed text and page angles—minor details that elevated the final image quality unexpectedly.
Embracing a cozy, lived-in aesthetic, this photoshoot captures the character in a tranquil, everyday state after completing a mission. Instead of a high-and-mighty battle pose, it presents a slice-of-life scene—sitting at a table, enjoying the afternoon sunlight. Exploring this side of the character enriches her multifaceted nature, offering fans a fresh, comforting perspective beyond her usual adventures.
