[Tingyun cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail Xianzhou Fox Maiden Outdoor Convention Photos

From initial planning to the final images, preparing this Tingyun costume took nearly a month. The moment I put it on, my biggest realization was that the intricate, multi-layered design demanded immense patience to style properly. The wig was given a dark brown to reddish gradient, and I ran several color tests beforehand to ensure a seamless transition toward the ends. For the oversized plush beast ears on my head, I reinforced the interior with double-layered mounting clips so they remained proudly upright in the windy outdoor convention environment without shifting during wide movements.

We picked this open clearing beneath an elevated overpass for the shoot because the lighting created natural, intersecting shadows, while the neutral off-white concrete backdrop perfectly accentuated the bold red and deep maroon tones of the attire. The golden lock-shaped ornament and hanging bells at the waist carried substantial weight; to anchor them securely without pinching lines into my skin, I spent considerable time adjusting the harness straps. The costume features a high-slit cut paired with white cloud-patterned boot covers and heeled sandals, which beautifully elongates leg proportions. However, maintaining balance during the single-leg lift seen in Photo 3 took repeated practice engaging my core, leaving my lower back and core aching for a bit afterward.

The fluffy fox tail was anchored via a concealed internal waistband harness beneath the robes. When walking, I had to consciously moderate my hip sway so it moved like a natural extension of the body rather than a cumbersome attachment. The detached white sleeves and the semi-sheer Red silk pibo demanded the most dynamic coordination: to capture an effortless, sweeping billow before the lens, we repeatedly repositioned my stance relative to the wind direction. The three-quarter turn in Photo 1, raising a cupped hand alongside the windblown red gauze, captured an ethereal agility true to the character. For Photo 2's front-facing stance, I rested my weight onto one leg with fingers lightly tapping my cheek, conveying a gentle yet flirtatious charm.

For the makeup, I opted for a clean, luminous base with deepened eye contours, which, paired with cyan-teal contact lenses, brought three-dimensional depth to my gaze. Because this was shot at a busy outdoor convention with heavy foot traffic, the photographer utilized a wide aperture to blur crowds and keep the frame pristine. Holding the red-and-white wooden handheld prop added a subtle narrative touch. Beyond the striking color palette, the interplay of metallic ornaments and sheer fabrics infused every turn and gesture with dynamic elegance. While physically exhausting, seeing the lightweight yet grounded texture emerge beneath the dappled light made all the tedious adjustments worthwhile. It was a thoroughly fulfilling cosplay experience, and I hope this set conveys the intricate beauty of the design.
