Finishing cleaning this detached house truly exhausted my last bit of energy, collapsing on the wooden floor with no desire to move at all. Just happened to unearth a can of tipsy drink, and decided to take advantage of this half-zoned-out state to shoot a set of maid outfit photos for daily home life.
Let's talk about the outfit worn this time. The dark blue main tone is paired with a white lace-trimmed apron, and the bright red bow on the chest is the finishing touch. The overall texture is quite good, and the layers and wrinkles of the skirt hem look particularly three-dimensional under the lighting. The lower body is paired with white over-the-knee stockings, beautifully embellishing the leg lines. Along with small black leather shoes, the whole look makes one appear both obedient like a maid and carrying a bit of casual daily spontaneity.
The shooting location was chosen right in the kitchen and refrigerator area. I must praise the lighting concept for this shoot here: we utilized an uninflated lighting device GCA30C and stuffed it directly into the refrigerator. The moment the fridge door opened, the cold white light spilled out, creating a fantastic clash with the kitchen's original warm ambient light, making the subject's face and contours appear particularly vivid amidst this interweaving of cold and warm.
The camera body is a Sony a7R3, paired with a Viltrox 35mm F1.8 EVO. The 35mm focal length is simply too suitable in a relatively compact space like a detached house, giving plenty of room for maneuver. It can capture the overall environment of the kitchen, dining table, and bathroom without producing noticeable distortion. The large aperture of F1.8 ensures sufficient light intake in indoor low-light environments while bringing very soft background bokeh, making the main subject of the frame stand out prominently.
Shooting was actually exceptionally casual, without deliberately striking overly exaggerated poses. Leaning against the fridge door, sitting cross-legged on the floor drinking a beverage, lying on the dining table daydreaming, or turning back with a towel in the bathroom. The photographer captured many moments of me looking up to drink or having a blank gaze; that tipsy laziness was practically playing myself naturally.
As someone who frequently cosplays various characters, occasionally dressing like this to record daily life in a real-life living scenario is actually a very stress-relieving experience. No need to think about complex settings and plots; it's enough to just express the current fatigue, relaxation, and a hint of a tipsy state. Looking through the viewfinder, the cold light overflowing from the fridge hitting the white stockings and dark blue skirt hem—the texture of that light and shadow is truly extraordinarily charming.
The entire shooting process felt like recording an ordinary weekend afternoon, with no heavy props or complex settings, entirely relying on light and a naturally flowing state. This set of pictures retains a vast amount of life details; even the wooden grain of the floor and the garbage sorting labels on the fridge are clearly visible, which instead gives this set of photos a bit more of a genuine flavor of daily home life. In the future, I will probably try more of these shooting styles that break conventions and get close to daily life.
