A budget-friendly Sparkle cosplay fitting costing just over 200 RMB—let's dive straight into my initial impressions of the first batch in Size M.
The costume's main body uses a classic red, white, and black color scheme. The upper half features a deep V-neck structure with finely stitched white petal-shaped trim around the collar. Right in the center of the chest sits a golden keyhole set against a black background, staying highly faithful to the original design in Honkai: Star Rail, complete with a small bowtie in the middle.
What pleased me most was the sleeve design—they are wide enough that when my arms rest downward, the sleeves drape below my knees. The red and black argyle/diamond checkerboard pattern on the sleeves is super eye-catching, and the white rabbit print designs on both sides are crisp rather than blurry. Paired with the white scalloped edges at the cuffs, the entire look feels exceptionally lively.
Accessory details are also well-executed. The black leather belt at the waist features double buckles, resting right at the narrowest part of the waist to elongate the chest-to-waist ratio. On the left hip of the belt hangs a large accessory: a black hooded rabbit plush with red ribbons dangling below, finished with a golden bell at the bottom. The side tassels and attached large bell actually chime when you move around.
The hem is a white spliced ruffle miniskirt printed with black clubs and diamonds from playing cards. The hem is slightly heavy, so without support it might look flattened. I strongly recommend pairing it with a lightweight, slightly fluffy petticoat. This brings out the skirt's layered effect, keeps the length above the knees, and visually elongates your legs. Speaking of petticoats, I tested a few options I had on hand and found an A-line or light petticoat fits this skirt best. An overly puffy pumpkin-style petticoat flares the hem out too violently, ruining the natural ruffle flow. A lightly padded petticoat is just right—letting the hem drape into beautiful natural curves while maintaining length above the knee, making it extremely flattering for body proportions.
As for sizing, I am 160cm tall and weigh 55kg, with a slightly chubby, pear-shaped figure. Size M fits very comfortably regarding sleeve length, shoulder width, and skirt length. However, the waist section lacks elastic bands and has a fixed measurement, making it unforgiving. It fits me just right; if your waist is slightly larger or smaller, it won't sit flush. So for fellow cosplayers looking to buy, don't rely solely on height and weight—selecting your size strictly based on actual waist measurement is the safest approach for Cosplay fitting.
When it arrived, the packaging was neat and the fabric felt nice to the touch—not that cheap shiny material, but with a comfortable thickness, which is a big advantage in air-conditioned convention halls. Also, the small neck tag and phone strap were included; I paired them casually during the shoot, and they can serve as great hand props for photos. The waist belt quality is solid too; the double-row metal buckles combined with the black strap feel weighty, pulling the inverted triangle silhouette of the upper body snug after buckling. Because my waist matched Size M, it didn't feel tight or leave excess folds.
Overall accuracy and workmanship in this Cosplay costume review are solid. Even without wearing a wig or makeup, simply pairing it with canvas shoes during this test already brought out Sparkle's playful, mischievous vibe. I recommend styling a red-and-white textured wig later alongside hand props for even better Anime-style fashion results. Since the sleeves are wide, just be mindful not to brush past passersby when walking. The bell tassels on the sleeves have a strong presence, which—combined with the rabbit bell at the waist—chime delightfully as you walk, adding fantastic stage effect. Although these small accessories aren't heavy, they definitely enhance visual dynamism when walking around anime conventions.
Overall, my satisfaction with this fitting is high, and I can't wait to complete the full gear setup for an upcoming convention debut!
