Putting on this outfit for The Shorekeeper, the most direct feeling is the cool serenity of the blue and white color scheme. The wig went through several adjustments, with the bangs and sideburns repeatedly compared against the official design sheets, all to recreate that light and slightly detached state from the game. The white fabric hood structure on the head and the sheer mesh straps along the edges are designed with great sophistication; they could easily shift out of place at the scene if one isn't careful, which really tests temporary fixing techniques.
The studio setup followed a very minimalist route this time, with a pure white background and cylindrical pedestals. I feel this kind of negative space can maximize the character's silhouette instead. Balancing the blue-and-white ribbons, the flower clusters at the waist, and the blue butterfly prop in hand on-site was actually quite difficult. The slope of the shoes was higher than imagined, demanding high control over my center of gravity when standing; sitting on the platform and pairing it with extended leg movements helped relieve a lot of the pressure instead.
During the shoot, the photographer made very detailed adjustments to the light and shadow, creating a strong texture contrast between the transparent mesh layer under the outfit and the patent leather material on the edges; the cold-toned lighting perfectly matched The Shorekeeper's temperament. The small props in hand were quite lightweight, and paired with the flowing cuffs, simply striking a few still poses could yield excellent results. Although this character generally follows a cold and quiet vibe, in the studio I was actually constantly studying how to make the postures look more natural and relaxed rather than a stiff standing pose. It wasn't until the shutter sounds stopped that I realized I had broken quite a sweat.
The design of this gear is rather complex; the shoulder tailoring and the transparent flexible tubes on the sides of the body require absolute patience during the dressing process. However, being able to restore the character's spirit makes the experience and sense of achievement gathered on-site entirely worth it.
