The combination of Twintails with a white shirt and a blue-gray plaid pleated skirt delivers a screen filled with a strong Japanese style photography vibe in this shoot. The equipment used for this shoot is the A7M5 paired with the Viltrox 35mm F1.2 LAB, a combination that has exceptional expressive power when doing Sony portrait photography. Shooting with the 35mm focal length requires getting closer to the model, but with the backing of the F1.2 large aperture, the out-of-focus transition is very soft, firmly locking the focus on the model's eyes. Combined with the side-front lighting angle, it easily outlines a clean and sharp jawline curve.
To make the entire set of photos more layered, we selected multiple environments with different colors and textures. Initially shot in the rock-climbing wall area, the gray texture of exposed concrete and the colored rock holds carry a rugged urban industrial style. I had the model try a squatting look back pose, which can well elongate the overall sense of lines while letting the skirt hem of the pleated skirt spread out naturally. Combined with white mid-calf socks and brown loafers, it focuses the visual center on the leg lines. Because the wall surface has uneven textures, to retain shadow details, I slightly lowered the exposure compensation by half a stop, allowing the picture to retain some high-end gray tones.
Next, we went to the outer corridor, which features a glass curtain wall and wooden leisure seating. Sunlight filtered down through the top structure, forming beautiful light spots. The model sat on the bench playing with the Vintage camera or doing some playful actions with a kendama, capturing many natural and vivid moments. The corridor has a strong sense of perspective; utilizing the wide-angle characteristics of 35mm, I adopted a slightly lower camera angle to combine the subject with the deep space, resulting in a great visual guidance effect.
The red-and-yellow contrasting dessert station is a scene I personally love very much. Large areas of high-saturation color blocks naturally carry vitality and a pop art feel, forming a strong visual contrast with the white sailor suit. Here, I had the model try more relaxed and lively poses, such as putting the red film camera on top of her head or leaning against a pillar looking at the camera. In this environment, the light and shadow are relatively uniform, and the shallow depth of field brought by the large aperture can just blur the complex lines in the background, making the subject stand out more.
Finally, we transitioned to the riverside boardwalk. The afternoon river breeze was quite strong, giving the hair a great sense of flow in the wind. When shooting against the backlighting, the anti-glare performance of this Viltrox lens was quite good, retaining great contrast. I had the model stand sideways with her gaze looking into the distance, pressing the shutter as the natural wind blew, filling the frame with a sense of breathing. The entire set of pictures combines industrial style, urban corridor, street colors, and natural river views. The model's expressions and body language also transitioned from stern to vivid, and the integration between outfit details and scenes is extremely high, making it a portrait work with superb completion.
