[Kasugano Sora cosplay] School Vibe with Gymnastics Uniform, White Stockings, and Twintails

When I decided to shoot Kasugano Sora, this white-and-blue Gymnastics uniform instantly became my undisputed first choice. Once I had it in hand, my initial impression was how light and breathable the fabric felt—perfect for an indoor studio session with athletic elements. To recreate the character's signature pale blonde Twintails, I specifically prepared a high-temperature synthetic fiber wig. The two little topknots used to anchor the hair buns genuinely tested styling technique: bobby pins served as an internal foundation, wrapped and concealed on the outside with black ribbon bows. During shooting, the waist-length twin tails demanded constant vigilance to keep them from being crushed or tangled; particularly in the pose slumped over the desk, letting the left ponytail drape naturally across the tabletop alongside the black ribbon bow virtually mirrored the classic composition of the original illustrations.

The makeup direction diverged completely from everyday portrait shoots. To accentuate a 2D doll-like aesthetic, the foundation was applied one shade lighter than my natural skin tone and blended evenly across the entire face. Eye makeup was the focal anchor: peach-pink blush was broadly diffused across the lower eyelids, paired with exaggerated upper and lower false eyelashes to make the eyes appear dramatically larger than usual, which—combined with a subtly bewildered gaze—evoked a fragile, porcelain vulnerability. A dewy, sheer pink lip gloss added a delicate plumpness to the lips.

The relaxed cut of the cotton top caught soft natural folds under the studio lights, adding authentic lived-in warmth. The navy blue shorts featured dual white stripes along the sides, paired with over-the-knee White stockings to visually elongate leg lines. Incorporating the Volleyball prop was equally engaging: at first, I simply stood holding the ball rather stiffly, but the photographer suggested perching on the school desk, resting the ball on my lap or cradling it in my arms. In Photo 6, resting the ball on the desktop held by one hand while letting the other arm drape naturally at my side with crossed legs suspended in midair made finding balance surprisingly tough, requiring continuous core engagement to stay steady.

In the seated shot resting my chin in both hands, my weight fell entirely onto my elbows; because the chair back was narrow, I had to keep my arms braced tightly to avoid slipping. In the frame slumped over the desk, keeping my back straight while tilting my head properly meant subtle tension in my neck and shoulders the entire time. These physical exertions remained seamlessly concealed in the final deliverables, presenting a relaxed, effortless languor. The studio blended aesthetics of a locker room and classroom, where off-white lockers, wooden desks, and chairs naturally evoked nostalgic fragments of school life.

The entire shoot was not only a test of physical stamina, but also an exercise in fine detail control. From lighting angles to prop positioning, we engaged in continuous trial and error. This shoot gave me a fresh appreciation for the Gymnastics uniform: devoid of elaborate skirts or heavy ornaments, relying solely on clean color blocking and precise wig styling was enough to vividly bring a character's essence to life. Watching the compositions take shape on the camera monitor, seeing ideas in my mind crystallize into reality, was truly captivating.
