This Shigure Ui cosplay strongly emphasizes an everyday, vibrant feel throughout the styling. The golden Twintails paired with white fluffy scrunchies look exceptionally light and bouncy on camera. The school uniform styling features a navy-blue pinafore dress paired with a long-sleeved white shirt and red collar trim, offering crisp color contrast and high recognition. The red backpack on my back is the finishing touch of the whole outfit—large in size and rich in saturation, adding significant visual weight to the frame.
The lighting on the day of the shoot was fantastic. We chose a shopping mall's high-ceiling atrium with a dark reflective floor, which subtly mirrored the red soles of the shoes to add depth to the lower-body framing. To highlight the character's playful energy, the photographer and I tried low-angle upward shots paired with crouching and glancing back. Utilizing the wide-angle perspective stretch, we brought both the yellow sphere prop in hand and the red backpack into the frame simultaneously. This angle not only accentuated hand gestures, but also elongated the lines of the skirt pleats and White tights cosplay elements, keeping the overall movement candid and natural.
Regarding the props, the yellow ball is tethered by a thin chain; during shooting, I had to hold it steadily with my fingers while keeping my arm angled so as not to block my face. The wig has plenty of volume, and the side pom-poms tended to obstruct vision, requiring constant adjustments to keep the curve of the bangs and eyes clearly visible. In terms of makeup, to match the character's luminous aesthetic, soft pink eyeshadow was paired with light-colored contact lenses to give the eyes a clear, translucent sparkle.
I spent quite some time crouching during the shoot, leaving my knees a bit sore, but capturing the most relaxed posture required shifting my center of gravity repeatedly. Since the skirt is quite flared, low-angle shots pose a risk of exposure, so safety shorts were coordinated carefully. In the final photos, this perspective with dynamic tilt angles nicely balances cuteness with a subtle hint of allure—especially the extension of the leg lines and the flare of the skirt, making the character feel truly alive. Overall, it was a very smooth shoot; the costume and prop details faithfully recreated her iconic elements. The ambient lighting fell evenly across the face, and post-processing focused mainly on basic color correction without over-retouching, preserving the authentic skin texture and makeup palette as much as possible.
