Today's photo shoot theme is a kindergarten kid applying to cross the street. To match this setting, I put a lot of thought into the yellow hat outfit. The bright yellow bucket hat on top is the visual center of the entire look; it not only makes the skin look fairer, but also instantly brightens the frame in the overcast city streets. For the top, I chose a blue-and-white striped short-sleeved shirt, layered with light blue denim overall shorts outside, and the white lace trim at the edge of the pant legs adds a fairy-tale-like cute vibe. For the lower body, it is matched with pure white over-the-knee stockings and light blue flat shoes. The overall color tone is controlled between yellow, blue, and white, making it look very fresh and natural. A pink plush cross-body bag adorns the waist, breaking the dullness of the cool tones.
The shooting location was chosen near the crosswalk under the city overpass. The natural light here becomes very soft after being blocked by the bridge structure, which can take good care of facial shadows and skin tone. The black-and-white geometric lines of the crosswalk naturally have a strong visual guidance effect. Combined with the extending road, it is very easy to take photos with a strong urban vibe. We used the changes of the intersection traffic lights to capture candid shots. When the pedestrian red light came on, I stood by the curb, holding the yellow bucket hat with both hands, slightly turning sideways to look back at the lens. This action can well showcase the tailoring of the overalls and the lines of the white stockings, presenting a well-behaved and expectant state.
When the green light turns on, it is the best time for dynamic candid shots. I walked on the crosswalk, slowing down my pace, cooperating with the breeze to let my long black curly hair flow naturally, while lifting one hand to gently press the brim of the hat. The photographer's lens captured the contraction of the thigh muscles and the stretching sense of the stockings during movement. To showcase the urban vibe, we deliberately included the intersection traffic lights, traffic signs, and the overpass behind into the composition, making the layers of the frame richer.
In terms of emotional expression, I tried to maintain a naive and well-behaved girlish feeling. There is no need for a deliberate, pretentious smile, but rather looking directly at the lens with a calm and slightly curious gaze, or pretending to look at the road conditions ahead. The contrast between white stockings, the dark asphalt road surface, and the black-and-white crosswalk has a strong visual impact.
The shooting process of this set of photos went very smoothly, and the cooperation between natural light and street view was just right. For people who like street photography, by making good use of the surrounding transportation facilities, paying attention to the direction of light, and combining it with appropriate clothing color coordination, you can take photos with a sense of story in daily scenes. This style-oriented outfit leaning towards photography is also a direction I really like when trying different character settings.
