[Ace Taffy cosplay] Twintails and Cape, Convention Photos Are Finally Out!

This time, taking advantage of the perfect light at the convention's outdoor venue, I got these convention photos of the Ace Taffy outfit. The most elaborate part of the whole look is this cape. It is a dark gray and white patchwork with silver lining on the edges; although it's lightweight, it has an excellent drape and flows beautifully with the wind when walking. The massive pink bow on the chest was custom-made, with every golden star and tassel pendant threaded by hand to stay as close to the original setting details as possible. The leather choker on the neck with metal clasps is also a nice little highlight.

The matching black half-finger fishnet gloves and short boots are also crucial accessories. The boots are brownish-gray lace-ups with slightly distressed toes and metal decorations on the soles. Standing for a long time was actually quite exhausting, but it was totally worth it for the final result. The matching plush doll in my hand made a full appearance throughout this shoot; I made sure to take care of its little goggles on its head and the stripes on its skirt. Holding it while posing made me feel like I embodied the character's playfulness even more.

We selected several different angles during the shoot: close-up shots captured the layers of the wig and bangs, which are pink with a slight purple hue, offering a very soft color; the squatting and kneeling shots focused on showcasing the black tights on the lower body and the lace edges of the skirt hem, with the light falling on the legs to make the skin tone look even and natural; the standing shot had the cape fully spread out, which, combined with open arms, instantly propped up the silhouette of the entire look. The background is a very clean modern gray building wall, with a large aperture blurring out the scattered passersby in the distance to make the subject pop.

Honestly, I feel the completion of this cosplay outfit is quite high, especially those metal chains and cross-star decorations, which took a lot of effort to fix in place, otherwise they would easily swing around. Matching with the plush doll gave the frame more interaction, keeping it from looking too rigid. The weather on the shooting day was very comfortable—cloudy but with soft lighting, so we didn't need harsh light to capture very smooth shadow transitions. At last, the final photos were graded with a slightly cool tone to give the frame more of a sense of air. That's the beauty of outdoor shoots; the changes in natural light can bring out different textural expressions of the clothing.
