This shoot centered on post-processing with reflections and water ripples, recreating the Sphene of memory while capturing the specific atmosphere of this Final Fantasy XIV work. I put significant effort into the hair and makeup, using a lightweight and breathable foundation to emphasize the character's translucent skin, and specially adjusted the curve of the wig to frame my face contours. The gown features numerous layers of tulle; though twirling looks breathtaking, its sheer weight was a major test of stamina and core strength. The shoot took place between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM when the sunlight cast slanted rays onto the pillars of the Classical architecture. Photographer @不列颠大魔女 precisely captured these golden light-and-shadow effects, using backlighting to create a gorgeous rim light along the skirt hem. As for the post-processed water ripples and mirror effects, I fine-tuned them little by little in software using motion blur and layer blending, striving to give the image a sense of being drawn out through the flow of bygone days. To match this effect, I tried semi-profile arm-extending poses, letting the skirt spread out like flower petals as much as possible. Because the movements were large and required stability, shooting was actually very grueling on set—and the headdress was heavy too—taking nearly an hour and a half to capture a single raw frame with satisfying expression and composition. In post-processing, beyond color grading, I focused on masking around the subject's edges to ensure the Water ripple reflection did not obscure details of the subject. Although exhausted after a full day, seeing this photo set full of narrative depth made everything worthwhile. Rather than deliberately pursuing intense allure, I focused more on Sphene's elegance and subtly mysterious aura, using the light and shadow of Classical architecture and the grand skirt to present the character's layered depth. The overall makeup and styling structure was carefully considered so that headdress, earrings, and dress details would not look cluttered in the same frame, with the weight and texture of the outfit perfectly matching the grand presence of the architecture in this cosplay.
