[Futaba Sakura cosplay] Persona 5 White studio portrait record, super high accuracy casual wear styling

This Futaba Sakura styling is truly a shooting session I invested a lot of effort into recently. Because I usually love the work Persona 5 very much, when I decided to cosplay Futaba this time, I put a lot of thought into the costume and props. The wig uses a bright orange with very high color saturation. To achieve that fluffy and layered long straight hair effect, just managing the bangs on the forehead and the sideburns on both sides took a very long time. Matched with the black-framed glasses and that iconic red-rimmed over-ear headphones, the overall otaku hacker aura came out instantly.

On the costume side, I picked a relatively loose-fitting white off-the-shoulder T-shirt with a red irregular pattern printed on the chest. To break the monotony, I paired it with an army green loose outerwear on top, but during the photo shoot, I intentionally let it half-hang on my body, which can reveal a bit of the collarbone and shoulder lines, adding a trace of casual feel. The lower body is paired with black tight shorts, with a black leather belt featuring metal rings around the waist, which not only elevates the waistline but also adds some punk elements. Because Futaba as a character herself carries a very distinct otaku attribute, in the lower body outfit I incorporated black Stockings and a pair of black Over-the-knee boots with a strapped design. These boots are really cool; the straps extend all the way from the calf to below the knee, and matched with Stockings, the leg lines will be wonderfully modified and elongated.

This shoot was conducted in a White studio portrait, with a very clean background. The biggest advantage of a White studio portrait shoot is that the lighting is sufficient and uniform, which can maximize the restoration of the clothing's color and texture. But this actually also brought challenges to lighting arrangement, because the character's orange wig and army green outerwear colors are both relatively vibrant, and if the white background is overexposed, it's very hard to adjust back in post-processing. Therefore, during the shoot, I specially communicated with the photographer about the placement of light positions, using two high-power softboxes as the key light and fill light to ensure that facial lighting is soft and shadowless. Special attention needs to be paid to the reflection problem of the glasses; slightly tilting the head up or utilizing a light source offset to the side can capture clear eye details.

During the shooting process, to showcase Futaba's dynamic feel of being both introverted and occasionally lively, I designed several different poses. The first one is a slightly quiet standing posture, with the right hand gently pushing up the glasses or adjusting the headphones, the left hand gathering the outerwear around, and the expression maintaining a calm state. Moving to the second one, I wanted to show a bit of jumping feel, standing on one leg with the other leg lifted backward, the right hand making a V sign, and the left hand extending outward, like the moment when suddenly called by name or grasping inspiration. The third one is a more relaxed posture, slightly tilting the head, hand supporting the headphones, and gaze looking into the camera, portraying that state of being slightly alienated in reality yet having a rich inner world.

Wearing this outfit is actually quite tiring, especially the cross straps of the Over-the-knee boots; every time putting them on and taking them off takes a long time, and the Stockings also slide down from time to time during the shoot, requiring the assistant's help to adjust. However, seeing the effect of the finished photos, I truly feel that all the hard work is totally worth it. The overall color contrast is extremely strong—orange hair, white T-shirt, red pattern, green outerwear, and black bottoms—offering a visually rich layering. I hope this White studio portrait work can convey Futaba's unique charm. There is a lot of room for performance with this styling; whether it's action or demeanor, there are many details that can be explored.
