For this shoot, the setting was chosen in an office. To fit the casual secretary theme, for the workplace outfit I selected a tailored gray blazer paired with a white inner shirt. The black ribbon tie at the collar adds a subtle professional edge, while the short skirt keeps the overall uniform cosplay look from feeling overly rigid. On my feet, I paired black pointed-toe high heels with dark stockings. The defining feature of this outfit is its form-fitting cut, which demanded constant mindfulness over posture in front of the lens; any slight slouching or hunching would break the clean silhouette lines, requiring me to keep my core engaged throughout the entire office photoshoot.
Before shooting this set, I deliberately observed the natural demeanor of working professionals around me. Even while doing cosplay, I didn't want the performance to feel forced, aiming instead to capture the candid ease of unwinding during a work break. The brown leather office chair proved to be a fantastic prop, allowing me to experiment with diverse seated poses: crossing my legs, curling up slightly in the chair, and even slipping off the high heels onto the carpet. Taking off the shoes wasn't actually planned beforehand; rather, wearing heels during the shoot was genuinely exhausting, and kicking them off while resting happened to become a charming, grounded detail filled with authentic daily realism.
The set styling was remarkably authentic—scattered documents on the desk, coffee mugs, a desk lamp, and filing cabinets provided immense storytelling value. For lighting, we primarily utilized the cool-toned ambient fixtures of the office environment, paired with light slicing through the venetian blinds to craft a mood lingering between bustling focus and languid quietude. To showcase the textures of the blazer and stockings, I adjusted my body angles to flatter the natural, fluid lines of my legs before the camera, while carefully managing facial expressions—striking a balance that was neither overly stern nor frivolous, with a subtle smile hitting the sweet spot.
Throughout the shoot, the photographer constantly helped refine shooting angles. Because of my slender frame, an overly loose suit jacket could easily appear sloppy, so during breaks I continually neatened the shirt cuffs and jacket hem to keep the garment's silhouette crisp and three-dimensional. Capturing varied perspectives required me at times to sit sideways in the chair, leaning weight to one side while keeping my upper body poised and upright, which was quite an endurance test for stamina and patience.
The entire shooting process was actually much more demanding than imagined. Constantly maintaining seated postures in the chair while ensuring the clothing avoided excessive creasing meant readjusting the skirt and stockings with every new pose. Yet the finished images were truly delightful: the gray suit and brown leather chair created a fantastic color contrast, giving the frames a clean, layered aesthetic. Without needing overly complex backgrounds, relying purely on simple props and lighting authentically recreated the daily essence of a career woman.
