[Suisui cosplay] Wuthering Waves: Magnificent and Resplendent Visual Presentation

The post-processing for this set of photos is finally complete. Preparations for this shoot took quite some time; to match Suisui's Traditional Chinese style design in Wuthering Waves, a great deal of thought went into the set staging. The backdrop incorporated warm yellow sheer drapery, paired with a circular orange-yellow backdrop board to simulate a radiant halo effect. Celadon porcelain, red plum blossoms, and bamboo cages were arranged on the table, alongside a hanging scroll depicting traditional flowers and birds. The overall color palette was grounded between warm gold and deep brown, intensifying that lavish, magnificent feel.

The costume is filled with intricate details: a black base top with gold patterning, silver-gray and gold motifs spliced onto the shoulders, and a flowing blue silk sash adorned with water-ripple textures draping from the hem. The red-to-black gradient gloves and pearl bracelets served as wonderful accents. The wig combined an updo with cascading tresses, accented by two slender metallic hairpins to add dimensional depth. Posing while cradling the lute truly tested core strength, as I needed to continually maintain an air of languid yet poised elegance. Seated posing placed considerable strain on the legs and lower back—especially when ensuring the skirt hem and flowing sash draped naturally, which required repeated angle adjustments. The pipa prop had great tactile quality with authentic wood grain, and tuning the tuning pegs also took a bit of effort.

Spending an entire afternoon retouching was indeed exhausting; the most time-consuming part was balancing the lighting and tonal palette. To achieve this magnificent, gilded aesthetic, I devoted significant time to fine-tuning skin highlights and overall color balance. With the ambient light leaning toward warm amber, post-production focused primarily on enhancing the gleam of metallic ornaments while crushing the shadows in the background, keeping the subject's face sculpted with dimensional light. To highlight smooth, delicate skin, I added a touch of dewy glow, preserving and enhancing the natural skin texture of the legs, which, together with the plush mat, kept the visual center of the composition sharply focused.

The atmosphere of this set largely relied on the sheer curtains in the foreground and the warm lighting. During retouching, localized dodging was applied to different zones, such as the pipa's faceplate, the gold trim along the collar, and the pearls on the wrist. In reality, the raw shots were not quite this immaculate; cluttered elements in the background were softened and blurred through post-production depth-of-field handling. The final results boast a striking contrast between gold and black. From scouting and set construction to posing refinements and meticulous retouching, this Role-playing game project underwent numerous iterations, and the finished images feel well worth every ounce of energy and time invested in this cosplay.
