Bringing out the Awakened Carthecia form of Fleurdelis from Wuthering Waves required immense preparation from the get-go. The costume's construction is exceptionally intricate: an inner black form-fitting bodysuit accented with black straps and metal buckles across the chest and neck, paired with an outer flowing cape of spliced white and blue fabrics bearing geometric gold motifs. Capturing the dynamic flutter of the garments in the wind took considerable time just refining the drape and billowing angles of the hem. The crown of blue-black thorns and the central gold conical crest demanded custom interior support brackets to avoid slipping out of place during movement. The elf-ear prosthetics also had to seamlessly contour to my face, with a cool-toned foundation selected to match her dignified aura.

On the props front, the polearm held in hand features flowing hydro elemental effects radiating from its tip. To capture dynamic water splashes in still frames, we set up an artificial water stage around the base, utilizing fans and reflectors to sculpt the visual trajectories of the streams. I sat barefoot upon the sculpted rock base, a thin blue cord tied around my ankle. Resting on authentic, rough-hewn stone meant continually shifting my seated balance and foot placement, striving to maintain an effortlessly crossed-leg posture while anchoring my center of gravity so the heavy cape wouldn't slide off or become soaked by splashing water.

The expo hall environment was far from ideal, with venue lights and passing attendees cluttering the background. Photographer @packy utilized a telephoto lens to compress space alongside high-powered flashes to stop down the ambient background, isolating the subject cleanly from the chaotic surroundings. Freezing the splashes at the right split-second meant repeatedly throwing water on-site; aligning the splash contours with my eye line required repeating a single pose over a dozen times. To carry the textural weight of this layered outfit gracefully, I specifically focused on core conditioning beforehand to keep my posture poised and erect on the stone seat without slouching.

For makeup, bright light can easily make light-blue contact lenses and long blonde hair appear harsh, so I blended grey-blue tones across the eyeshadow as a transition and applied generous contouring to sharpen facial dimensions. To keep the windblown strands defined, styling required copious amounts of hair wax and setting spray, demanding constant brushing between takes to prevent matting. Though exhausting throughout, seeing the harmonious textures of splashing water and cool-toned illumination in the final selects made every bit of effort well worth it.
