Today, I set myself a timed 10-minute challenge with the goal of pulling off Dorothy from Goddess of Victory: Nikke. For me on normal days, this pace would be virtually mission impossible—after all, Dorothy's elegant yet subtly perilous aura demands meticulous precision from the base makeup to the eye makeup.
However, since it was capped at ten minutes, I had to streamline the process and focus squarely on the eyes. To recreate that dreamy, deep gaze, purple-toned contact lenses were an absolute must. For eyeshadow, I used cool tones as a base, deepening the inner and outer corners, and paired it with naturally elongated false lashes. Trying to cut down the time spent drawing eyeliner, my hands were practically flying. The Pink wig was smoothed and detangled in advance, but that signature side updo bun still took some effort; despite the ticking clock, the texture of the hair bun needed some detail rather than just rolling it up haphazardly. The base makeup prioritized a sheer, translucent finish; given the time constraints, I skipped repeated layers of concealer and contouring, locking it down directly with setting spray. For the lips, I applied a glossy lip tint to add hydration. Slipping on the white ruffled choker, I felt the character's soul instantly fall into place.
Throughout these ten minutes, I was basically rushing through with my hands while constantly checking the clock, still fixing the bangs of the wig in the final minutes. Usually when doing Dorothy cosplay, I take time fine-tuning countless details—like glitter at the corners of the eyes and smooth gradient transitions—but this extreme challenge actually felt fun and tested my everyday fundamentals. While the makeup might not be as meticulous as usual, the result under this fast pace was quite satisfying.
The Pink wig paired with this costume showed very rich color under indoor lighting, and the wig's highlights looked remarkably natural. Through this experiment, I discovered that zeroing in on aspects that best embody the character's signature traits—such as the gaze and hairstyle—can significantly cut down prep time. The completion level of this styling turned out decent, and the overall atmosphere met expectations. Moving forward, I probably need to practice my makeup speed more, aiming to handle details even better within ten minutes next time. In reality, fast-paced makeup tests your ability to distill character essence most: knowing what must be kept and what can be simplified. That's all for today's record; I hope it gives everyone some ideas on quick cosplay setups. Regular practice is key to staying confident and keeping the character's presence locked in before the lens.
