This promo shoot set for Goddess of Victory: Nikke at BW 2026 is easily one of my most satisfying works recently. From picking the wig to locking down the hair and makeup styling, it took nearly two weeks of preparation. This time, I especially want to share the styling process behind this blue gradient wig. The roots are bright blue, transitioning into purple-black toward the tips; to preserve its dimensional silhouette, I had to comb through it and apply setting spray every day after wrapping up, all while carefully sustaining a slightly tousled yet layered finish. Trimming the bangs required immense effort—they needed to partially veil one eye to evoke mystery without poking into the eye and obstructing vision, and the slightly textured flyaways at the ends were deliberately retained to match the combat theme.
In terms of makeup, because the pose featured a winking eye, the makeup on the open left eye had to carry the visual focal point of the entire face. Wearing blue-green colored contacts, the eyeshadow was chosen in cool tones to match the wig, paired with winged eyeliner to project a gaze balancing calm composure with playful charm before the lens. The head accessories served as the true soul of this promo shoot: the plush doll headband on top—one pink, one white—alongside a custom Goddess of Victory acrylic standee affixed to the front, were all merchandise elements I hand-picked by comparing textures piece by piece. The bright orange letter 'N' hairpin on the right side of the hair was actually a prop I stumbled upon while browsing an earlier convention, yet it matched this look surprisingly well, serving as the crowning touch.
The temperature on the convention day was actually quite high; donning a heavy wig and hair accessories while maintaining poses and expressions proved to be quite an endurance test. However, the outdoor natural lighting at BW was fantastic—sunlight catching the wig highlighted the purple-blue gradient transition and the silky sheen of the synthetic fibers effortlessly. The photographer had sharp timing as well: that winking peace sign gesture was simply a candid moment while I adjusted my bangs, and capturing it right as the shutter clicked yielded an image far more organic and lively than stiff, formal posing. As someone who frequently dives into Roleplay and Blue hair cosplay, I find myself prioritizing pre-shoot prop preparation and on-site lighting interplay over heavy post-retouching. Whether a photo set resonates with me often hinges on getting these minute details right. From costume coordination and prop integration to on-site performance, everything achieved my expectations. Free of exaggerated post-processing, retaining the authentic texture and flow of the wig hair conveyed a casual yet refined convention mood. Wrapping up this set has sparked plenty of fresh inspiration for my next character portrayal.
