[Tribbie Cosplay] Setting Off with the Zephyr: Record of My First Outdoor Photoshoot

Shooting at an ACG outdoor location for the first time, we chose a vintage café featuring window seats and bookshelves. When light streamed through the lattice windows, I instantly captured that quiet yet playful vibe of the character. The costume details are far more intricate than they look: the silver and black color-block splicing on the collar, golden rings inlaid with sapphires on the arms, and double stripes on the arm sleeves took quite some effort to put on. What surprised me most was the headpiece—the ring of white flowers with blue centers stayed remarkably secure without shifting throughout the entire day's movement.

Collaborating with Teacher Lingye was truly a delight. Teacher Lingye was extremely meticulous with wig styling and makeup, trimming the hair to achieve a fluffy, layered effect, while guiding poses brilliantly during the shoot. Wanting to portray a casual yet lively side of the character, we shot across multiple scenes: close-ups leaning against the window, candid shots looking back with a drink, and reading by the staircase, where Teacher Lingye had me extend the book toward the lens, capturing a naturally interactive moment. The angle reaching toward the camera in the photo is slightly playful, but using a 35mm focal length with a wide aperture created wonderful foreground blur, giving the image immediate three-dimensional depth.

The Sony A7M4 paired with the Viltrox 35mm f1.8 EVO performed remarkably well in indoor low light, reproducing skin tones naturally. Combined with the lighting control, the white outfit wasn't overexposed and the golden trim retained its metallic texture. Although it was my first time doing an ACG outdoor location shoot, the tempo throughout was very comfortable without forced, awkward posing, leaning more into immersing into the character through the environment. Having usually done studio shoots, stepping into a real environment and watching window foliage intertwine with book pages felt as though 2D characters quietly came to life in reality.

To add a bit more on costume details: the sleeve arm covers are leather, slightly restricting movement, but fortunately the relaxed cut allowed raising hands to hold books without issue. The red tie cords and cape structure on the back fluttered gently while walking, yielding amazing dynamic candid shots. This was also my first time using a drink as a prop; the plastic cup and straw added a touch of everyday life without looking overly contrived. The entire shoot lasted over three hours across four or five scenes, with every photo carrying that relaxed and joyful mood. Finally, special thanks to Teacher Lingye for infinite patience and understanding—completing this creation with such a professional team is truly something to cherish.
