【Misono Mika Cosplay】Blue Archive's Summer Lakeside and Everlasting Fireworks - Image 1

Deciding to catch the tail end of summer, I shot a firework-themed photoset for Misono Mika cosplay. The location was chosen at a lakeside during dusk, right at blue hour after sunset. Though lighting conditions were trickier to control than daytime, that deep, cool blue backdrop highlighted the warm flame glow of the Sparkler in my hand even more vividly.

For clothing, I selected a white strappy summer outfit. In Blue Archive, Misono Mika's character setting inherently carries elegance and gap moe; capturing her vibe doesn't strictly require wearing heavy combat gear. I specifically picked this light white strappy swimsuit paired with a matching wide choker, which visually elongates neck lines nicely and fits the cool tone of outdoor summer aesthetics. For hair, I styled straight bangs; long pink hair gained rich texture under dark ambient lighting rather than looking overly harsh. For makeup, I toned down eyeshadow to focus on the pupils, picking amber-toned contacts so her gaze looks bright and full of story.

Playing with a Sparkler is actually a super fun prop interaction in Cosplay photography. These small sparklers burn very quickly—within ten-some seconds each burn—so angle precision and camera exposure settings demand high precision. To make sparks spray into beautiful radial starbursts, I held the flare right in front of my body, using its light as the key light source to illuminate the white swimsuit, providing natural facial fill-light even in dark ambient conditions. The pink planet light effect above my head was a subtle post-processing touch, echoing the overall dreamlike Summer atmosphere.

Shooting outdoor night scenes with sparks always involves plenty of prep work. For instance, combing the wig beforehand prevents bangs from getting blown messy by wind, while arm placement holding the Sparkler must be carefully controlled to avoid sparks falling onto hair. During shooting, I turned slightly sideways, looking downward along the spark intensity so focal emphasis settled on bright chest highlights and cheek contours. Daytime heat dissipated by the lakeside at dusk, leaving faint water reflections and cool blue skies—that relaxed mindset shines through as an effortless feeling in the final shots.

Though this cosplay experiment focused on subtle summer elements, the shooting process deepened my immersion into this character. The world of Blue Archive contains rich lore details, and the purpose of cosplay lies in recreating a character's specific aura through real-life photography. This photo set didn't force complex poses—just standing quietly on a peaceful night, holding a sparkler, watching it burn, and capturing the brightest second of light. Despite simple surroundings without professional lighting, relying entirely on the Sparkler as a light source produced lighting effects that felt genuine and captivating. Disregarding the dark background, that tranquil sense of summer night breezes beautifully recreated the refreshing temperament she displays in summer story arcs.

This photo set didn't use heavy post-processing filters, preserving the serene color temperature of blue hour alongside bright Sparkler highlights. I hope everyone can feel the cool evening breeze by the water through these photos.
