While preparing this Fugue Cosplay look, I dedicated considerable effort to polishing the textures of the hair, makeup, and costume. On the day of the shoot, styling the red-and-black highlights on the wig took nearly an hour, and the fluffy texture and positioning angle of the animal ears atop my head were adjusted repeatedly so they looked naturally voluminous without casting awkward shadows across my face. The outfit is an altered Chinese design interweaving red, black, and gold—featuring a crossover collar, wide sleeves, and an off-the-shoulder cut. To achieve an elegant drape when worn, the placement of the sash and back anchor points had to be exact; otherwise, moving around would cause the fabric to bunch up and disrupt the sleek silhouette.
The folding fan in my hand is one of my favorite props, adorned with exquisite red-and-gold motifs. To ensure it didn't look like a mere ornament, I experimented with half-veiled face poses, gentle one-handed fanning, and reclining postures. Photo 1 focuses on the upper body and expression, requiring a gaze tinged with languor and mystery. Photo 2 employs a wide composition: to highlight the garment's tailoring and sense of space, I crossed my legs on the wooden daybed, letting the hem drape naturally to accentuate the leg lines in Stockings, adding visual breathing room and subtle allure. Throughout the shoot, I kept my neck and shoulders engaged and my back straight so that even while reclining, the posture never appeared slouched.
The studio set offered great immersion, with dark wooden furnishings, blue-and-white porcelain, and red plum blossoms with gold leaf in the backdrop, creating an ethereal Ancient style cosplay atmosphere under warm-yellow side lighting. During this Anime-style photography session, I paid close attention to how light reflected off the fabric, communicating with the photographer to adjust light source distances multiple times. To give the composition more depth, we also used paper umbrellas in the background as framing elements to enhance visual layering.
From initial makeup trials to the finished shots, refining every detail deepened my appreciation of the character. From selecting fabric textures to fine-tuning poses, everything was done to precisely capture her essence. Fully realizing the imagery from my imagination through the lens was an immensely rewarding feeling. I will continue exploring different styles in the future to deliver even higher quality visual presentations.
