Cosplaying Galbrena from Wuthering Waves at the IDO Anime convention was a thoroughly rewarding experience. Starting with outfit details, securing the feathers and metallic fittings was the trickiest part; given the heavy convention foot traffic, I reinforced the feathers with hidden snaps beforehand to prevent deformation. Slipping into the thigh bands and black Stockings took the longest time to dress, and the thick platform heels added considerable weight, demanding serious leg strength—especially for the challenging pose dropping onto one knee with an extended leg split, which required keeping my core locked and bracing against the ground to showcase razor-sharp lines.
Lighting on-site was intricate, as bright natural daylight through the windows threatened to blow out contrast and swallow textures on the dark attire. After deliberation, we used reflectors to recover shadow gradients across the body. The photographer calibrated weapon angles carefully, letting the intricate firearm and long blade create dramatic diagonal extensions across the frame. Makeup centered around blue-gray contact lenses and winged eyeliner to complement the silver-white wig, reflecting her steadfast, fatalistic demeanor.
What resonated most with me was her inner spirit—her quotes on loading chambers for those who never returned and living and dying with honor reflect an unwavering clarity on mortality. Channeling that mindset allowed me to maintain cold resolve and sharp intensity even as heavy props weighed on my shoulders. Between acrobatic pose adjustments and joking with friends, capturing that resolute defiance against death made every bit of effort worthwhile. Connecting with fellow fans over prop crafting and feather maintenance made this Anime convention shoot deeply memorable.
