The shooting location for today's cosplay photoshoot was chosen in an industrial area featuring abandoned pipelines and an old railway station, where this rough metallic texture perfectly foils the vibrant visual impact of this outfit. Mumei's outfit as a whole features a red-and-yellow contrasting color scheme, and the pink cherry blossom patterns on the large cuffs are particularly striking against the dark-toned background. The fabric is relatively lightweight; to ensure the crispness of the sleeves, numerous pins were used to secure them on the sides during shooting, ensuring that whether doing squatting postures or large leg lifts, the outline of the clothing wouldn't collapse.
To recreate the texture of the Twintails, the wig was pre-crimped as a base, and the stray hairs and blunt bangs on both sides were trimmed and retouched repeatedly. Paired with reddish-brown contact lenses, the overall facial makeup doesn't look overly pale under strong light. The geta wooden clogs have relatively high teeth, making center-of-gravity control difficult when walking. To capture a sense of lightness, the shot of stepping on the railing with one leg raised actually required intense core tightening, and the insteps had to be tensed straight to keep the shoes from falling off. In terms of action, because the character's setting is relatively agile, I tried a squatting pose with fingers splayed, as well as a high-leg lift leaning against a metal pillar. Maintaining stability in these actions while wearing geta is extremely difficult, relying basically on single-foot support, which places high demands on overall bodily coordination.
The train carriages and rusted pipelines in the background added a layer of interlaced wasteland and modern aesthetic to the entire frame, while the reflection of light on various rust spots provided an excellent foundation for post-processing color grading. When the wide sleeves of the Japanese style cosplay attire fluttered in the wind, they wonderfully filled the negative space of the frame, and combined with the yellow bow at the waist, the visual proportions became even more harmonious. During outdoor shooting, the safekeeping of props and the cleanliness of the clothing are also major tests; especially the red fabric easily picks up dust, requiring careful cleaning every time we changed scenes.
To highlight the character's tough yet slightly wild feel, I deliberately practiced my gaze several times, trying to direct my line of sight slightly upward so the camera could capture a different kind of emotion. However, because the wind was quite strong, the wig's ribbons frequently needed repositioning, and hair strands would occasionally stick to my face—this can be considered the norm for outdoor location shoots. Every time my hair and makeup were tidied up and I stood before the lens, I would instantly enter the zone, forgetting the surrounding environment and focusing solely on the coordination of movement and expression. The entire shooting process consumed a massive amount of physical energy, but seeing the light-and-shadow layers and action presentation in the final deliverables made all the preliminary preparations entirely worthwhile. For cosplay photography lovers who enjoy a sense of action and strong color contrast, this kind of venue carrying industrial relics is truly an exceptional choice to inspire expressiveness.
