Today at the convention, I chose a navy-blue long-sleeved sailor-style JK uniform paired with a red neckerchief and tied my hair into Twintails, creating a classic Japanese campus aesthetic. Since I was exploring the Fan Content Festival, ease of movement was top priority, though photographic results couldn't be overlooked either. The fabric of this outfit has a nice drape, and the deep blue pleated skirt creates very natural folds as I walk. Paired with opaque black stockings, it visually flatters the leg contours beautifully, and black tights are truly versatile for everyday styling. The sailor collar features white striping details that look great through the lens, while the red neckerchief injects a splash of vivid color into the darker palette, keeping it from feeling dull.
While taking photos, I tried a phone-call pose. Holding a black mobile phone to my ear with my right hand, I turned my body slightly sideways, shifting my weight onto one leg with the other knee gently bent—visually elongating the lower body proportions. The Twintails hairstyle gave both the back and profile angles rich depth. Because Twintails naturally carry a youthful, energetic aura, I kept my facial expression calm and serene to establish a subtle, intriguing contrast. Though a simple gesture, combining it with campus-style attire easily weaves a sense of storytelling.
For the latter half, I switched to a black leather backpack accessorized with a white plush bunny and several other charms. Looking down while adjusting the backpack straps, the photographer caught a few candid frames that felt even more natural than staged poses. The third photo captures a turn-around glance, resting a finger beneath my chin while engaging with the camera. The lighting across the exhibition hall was quite chaotic, so finding a plain white wall as a backdrop effectively emphasized the subject. The atmosphere at this Fan Content Festival was incredible, filled with booths and enthusiastic interactions. The backpack had a generous capacity, perfectly holding the fan doujinshi and merchandise purchased at the event. While the leather appeared structured and sleek, adding plush charms brought a playful touch that echoed the Twintails.
Regarding the coordination with opaque black stockings, the choice of footwear is crucial. I wore black glossy loafers adorned with metallic buckles and bow accents, maintaining color harmony while the glossy finish broke the monotony of an all-black look. Under event lighting, opaque black stockings can easily appear heavy, so shooting against white backgrounds helped clarify leg silhouettes through contrast. Walking the convention floor all day was certainly tiring, but sharing ideas at the festival and seeing everyone's dedicated outfits made it immensely fulfilling. When shooting, I recommend trying more everyday gestures—eschewing exaggerated poses in favor of authentic, natural states often leaves the deepest impression. Reviewing the framing and lighting after the shoot, I feel quite satisfied with these natural candid moments and can't wait to head home and edit them.
