Today, taking the opportunity of my birthday party, I wore a maid outfit that I really love for the first time in a long time. Actually, this outfit has been hanging in my wardrobe for a long time, and I've always wanted to find a suitable opportunity to shoot a set of indoor studio photos. It happened that the venue for this birthday party had a European-style sofa and plush cushions, so I simply combined the photoshoot and the gathering together. With a pink twintails wig paired with cat ears, this hair color is actually quite demanding on makeup, especially when matched with purple contact lenses; the eyeshadow has to choose purplish-pink tones, otherwise it will look abrupt. The red ribbon choker with a bell around the neck is the finishing touch, which can break the monotony of the black and white color scheme. The costume itself is a very classic black and white color-matched maid outfit, with a long red ribbon on the chest and a black strapped corset at the waist. To avoid visual monotony, I paired it with asymmetrical over-the-knee socks—one side is pure black, and the other side is white with a red border—and chose Mary Jane shoes, which just echo the bow on the skirt. This black-and-white asymmetrical design is exceptionally photogenic, especially when sitting on the sofa, where the leg lines and two-color contrast can instantly catch the eye. The cake prop in my hand was also specially prepared; although it cannot be eaten and is actually a simulation model, the details of the tray and cake are very well done, and the texture in the photos is great. When shooting, you need to pay attention to the posture of holding the tray, making sure not to block the straps in front of the skirt, and not letting the hand movements look stiff. For example, in one shot where my body leans forward and one hand reaches toward the lens, that was to increase the interactive feel of the frame, looking in the lens like handing a cake to friends in front of the screen. In terms of lighting, because I wanted a bright, clean, and dreamy feel for this set of photos, a relatively soft front light was used, and the white sculptures, vases, and floral arrangements in the background happened to create this atmosphere. The plush cushions on the sofa made the whole frame look much warmer, and also neutralized the sense of distance brought by the black and white maid outfit. Actually, the shooting process was quite tiring; sitting on the sofa wearing such a multi-layered ruffled skirt requires constantly adjusting the puffiness of the skirt hem and minding the position of the socks, as even a slight movement might ruin the overall composition. But seeing the final photos made me feel it was all worth it. On this special day, not only was there the company of old friends, but also newly acquainted friends helping out, which really moved me deeply. Normally, everyone goes their separate ways busy with their own things, and being able to gather everyone together through my birthday, reading the blessings left by everyone and the gifts prepared with care, makes my heart feel very warm. Birthdays come every year, but this year's experience is extraordinarily different. Being able to do what I like at my birthday photoshoot, cosplay what I love, and stay with the people I like—this is the most perfect birthday state. I hope everyone who accompanied me through my birthday will have peace and joy year after year. Our story will surely remain to be continued forever. Actually, every time I prepare for a photoshoot, from choosing clothes, finalizing makeup, to finding a venue, it is a new attempt. Although it sometimes feels tedious, being able to present the state I like in front of the lens is a very fulfilling thing. This maid outfit paired with pink twintails has an overall anime-style vibe, and adding the elements of cat ears and two-tone over-the-knee socks was also an attempt to try a styling a bit different from usual. In this process, the help and encouragement from friends also gave me a huge boost of motivation.
