The selects from this pure white studio Kasugano Sora shoot are finally ready! Collaborating with photographer Jiang Shujian, the goal was to capture that pristine, ethereal, and subtly fragile doll-like presence. To honor the pure white theme, the entire set was staged before a seamless white cyclorama wall, right down to pure white cylindrical pedestals.
For the wig, I selected long silvery-white Twintails crowned with two small buns atop the head. To achieve an airy, natural hair flow, the strands were meticulously trimmed and set before shooting. The bangs were kept brow-length, paired with icy-blue contact lenses and a slightly listless, ennui-infused eye makeup that carved out authentic 2D facial proportions. The core of this Doll makeup was the generous dusting of pink blush swept beneath the eyes and across the cheeks over an porcelain-pale base, evoking the delicate flush of a ceramic doll.
The wardrobe centered on a white strappy tulle dress whose multi-tiered sheer skirt created rich dimension, accented with black satin ribbon bows along the straps and bustline. This monochrome contrast popped vividly against the pure white backdrop. To elevate lower-body layering, I wore lace-trimmed White stockings that flattered leg lines while tying the ensemble together cleanly. Cradling a grey plush bunny provided a muted, low-saturation color anchor—a beloved, iconic motif among fans.
Lighting for this pure white, high-key setup was a genuine technical challenge. With extensive softboxes and diffuse bounce cards, a slight misstep could flatten the white gown or cause it to bleed directly into the background. Fortunately, the photographer calibrated lighting ratios with surgical precision, preserving every fold in the tulle while rendering skin textures silky and glowing. Because the skirt fabric was semi-sheer, I crossed my legs while standing to elongate body lines and let the fabric drape naturally. When seated on the white cylinder prop, shifting my center of gravity to keep my posture relaxed was key; my fingers curved softly around the bunny plush to avoid looking tense or stiff.
A subtle detail on set: because the primary palette revolved around white, grey, and silver, we avoided warm light sources altogether, using a cooler color temperature to emphasize a serene, aloof mood. Post-processing leaned into a cool-toned high-key grade, gently lifting shadows while suppressing harsh highlights to keep overall contrast remarkably balanced. The final result is this deeply tranquil, pure visual experience.
