This set of Castorice cosplay took about half a month from costume and prop preparation to the official photoshoot. Because the original design details are quite complex, a lot of thought went into everything from material selection to production. First, a light purple base wig was chosen, and special attention was paid to layering during trimming. This kind of light purple wig easily looks dull outdoors on an overcast day, so the hair direction and fluffiness had to be styled clearly. The halo prop on top of the head used lightweight EVA material, with hollowed-out internal support to reduce weight, painted with acrylic paint on the outer layer, and then glued with purple acrylic diamonds, so the neck wouldn't feel too sore even after long-term wear. In terms of makeup, to fit the character's aloof temperament, a large-area base of purple-pink eyeshadow was used, with deep purple and a touch of red blended at the outer corners of the eyes, paired with purple contact lenses, creating a gaze with a slight sense of mystery. The base makeup was kept fair, and a large amount of setting powder was used to press down oiliness, ensuring it wouldn't easily melt during long outdoor shoots. The pointed ear props used skin wax and special effects glue, with natural edge transitions. The clothing layers are rich, with a white strap design on the chest, a deep purple mandarin collar at the neckline paired with a butterfly-shaped bow tie, and silver chains and diamond-shaped pendants matched around the neck. The material of the deep purple long gloves is quite form-fitting, beautifully modifying the arm lines, but they also easily attract dust, requiring constant cleaning with a lint roller during the shoot. The butterfly pattern on the arm was drawn with body paint pigments, offering good sweat-proof performance without smudging after an entire afternoon of shooting. The shooting location was chosen as a rooftop; it happened to be an overcast day, and the diffused natural light was very suitable for showcasing the material details of the clothes without needing extra strong lighting, making the overall atmosphere fit the character remarkably well. I struck a few poses with hands clasped in front of my chest, which naturally guides the visual focus to the butterfly accessory on the chest while echoing the character's reserved and somewhat distant temperament. The wind was relatively strong during the shoot, so the wig and headpiece needed position adjustments at any time. To ensure the final photo quality, we stayed on the rooftop for nearly three hours. Post-processing color grading mainly strengthened the purple tone, darkened the background city buildings, and made the overall frame look softer while highlighting the subject. The clothing material of this set of photos showed great texture in the overcast environment. Participating in this Honkai: Star Rail Creator Incentive Plan is also hoping to share my understanding of the character's design details through photos, such as the distribution of butterfly elements on the costume and how the purple tones express layers under natural light. The entire shooting and retouching process has been recorded, hoping to provide some reference for fellow fans.
