[Fu Xuan cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail Master Diviner's Chinese-style Photo

When changing into this Fu Xuan cosplay costume, the first mental preparation I made was managing the highly recognizable crown and the pink wig. The pink hair looks very transparent under the lights. I used hairspray beforehand for local styling to ensure that whether turning around or tilting my head during the shoot, the buns on both sides could maintain a natural and fluffy state. This outfit interwoven with purple, black, and white has a strong sense of layering. The huge circular purple gem on the chest is embedded in a metal frame, reflecting a deep luster in the cool blue environment, and its surrounding golden borders also highlight the texture and nobility.

The setting for this shoot was specially chosen to be an indoor space hung with huge calligraphy scrolls and dark wooden window lattices. The photographer managed the lighting very cleverly, using a large area of cyan-blue background light while leaving a warm yellow traditional Chinese paper lantern in the foreground. This clash of warm and cool tones perfectly built up the mysterious atmosphere of the Divination Commission, which lies somewhere between the mortal world and metaphysics. The off-the-shoulder tailoring design of the upper body, combined with the white base trousers and the black-and-gold color-blocked thick-heeled mid-calf boots, beautifully elongates the overall body proportions visually. Especially the purple knots adorning the ankles of the boots serve as an excellent detailed decoration when lifting legs or taking strides.

During the shooting process, I used an oil-paper umbrella and a calligraphy brush as the main props. The light blue oil-paper umbrella has white water-wave and cloud patterns printed on its surface; holding it on the shoulder can serve as a foreground for visual composition and assist in striking various elegant postures. When holding the brush, I intentionally slowed down the rhythm of my movements, attempting to capture that sense of concentration when deducing astrology and calculating cause and effect. Although I didn't completely understand every single character of the huge calligraphy pieces hanging on site, the flying-white ink technique and the sense of power in the brushstrokes perfectly matched the tone of this character.

To ensure a great output, we tried multiple possibilities for the postures. The standing pose emphasizes dignity and an ethereal aura, while the posture sitting on the wooden armchair allows for a more open display of the costume's completeness. Especially one sitting pose with one leg slightly lifted and the body leaning back slightly can beautifully balance the dynamic feel of the frame, showcasing the trousers, boots, and the flowing drape of the garment's hem all together. When walking, the streamers of the garment's hem and those translucent fabrics at the cuffs produce excellent dynamic effects.

The character's headpiece is actually quite heavy, and the entire changing process took nearly an hour. But the charm of Chinese-style cosplay lies right here: when the costume, makeup, and props are all fully worn and you stand in the set lighting, you will instinctively want to get closer to the spiritual core of the character itself. What the Matrix of Prescience sees is not just the focus of the lens, but the concentration of love for this passion. After adjusting the shooting angles a few times, I also accumulated some experience in managing this outfit, such as which movements allow the gem on the chest to reflect light naturally in the camera, and which angles can make the dividing line between the purple tulle of the skirt hem and the white base leggings clearer. Instead of deliberately imitating, presenting it from the starting point of my own understanding of the character made the final cold and warm light and shadow texture of this photo set make me feel that all the previous trouble was totally worth it. Although the clothes and hairstyle were heavy, being able to freeze these beautiful images in front of the lens is inherently an enjoyment.
