[Shimoe Koharu cosplay] Daily Life in the Make-Up Work Club Classroom from Blue Archive

I finally wrapped up post-processing for this Blue Archive Shimoe Koharu cosplay photoshoot. The shoot itself was such a fun experience, so I wanted to record it while the memories are still fresh. In truth, this outfit carries far more details than expected. The top is a relaxed black sailor suit trimmed with pink piping, featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline bordered in pink against white fabric, and tied with a pink bow at the chest. The lower half combines a black miniskirt, white slouch socks, and platform black leather shoes, establishing a classic black-and-pink color palette. The black hat is accented with hanging black feathers on both sides. The pink halo perched overhead took on a lovely luster under the studio lighting, while the small black wings strapped to my back bobbed cutely with every step.

For the makeup, I focused primarily on soft pink tones around the eyes paired with pink contact lenses, aiming to convey that slightly blank or wide-eyed innocent look. The vertical black line down the throat was drawn on with liquid eyeliner—a subtle detail that translated wonderfully in the photos. The hairstyle was a straightforward long straight pink wig with blunt bangs, very easy to manage, though it required subtle post-production color balance to tame glare from studio lights. A small plush keychain hanging off the black crossbody bag broke up the dark monotone with a lively, playful pop.

The shoot was staged in a classroom scene complete with a blackboard, wooden podium, and school desks. The light reflections off the polished wood flooring were surprisingly tricky to balance, requiring ample time to adjust lighting angles and avoid harsh overhead shadows across the face. For posing, I drew on casual postures: standing beside the lectern, leaning over a desk, or sitting straight on the floor. I held a book with a pink cover; while the classic meme insists 'ecchi na no wa dame!', the overall presentation strikes a balance between sweetness and a dash of feisty rebellion—qualities intrinsic to her character. That frame flipping through the booklet at the desk required repeated angle tests, continually readjusting the skirt and leg placement to keep the composition organic while retaining mood.

The overall shoot remained relaxed and lighthearted. We cycled through various camera positions to get every detail right. Afternoon sunlight creeping into the classroom turned pleasantly warm, offering a cozy contrast against the black-and-pink uniform. In post-processing, I steered the color grading toward clean, luminous tones, preserving the genuine fabric colors without overcooked filters. Because the outfit itself is packed with elements alongside the wings and halo, we deliberately left negative space in the framing to prevent visual clutter—such as using the desks' perspective lines to naturally guide the viewer's focus right to Koharu.

This shoot demanded considerable time and patience at every turn, from costume prep and prop adjustments to final retouching. If a small accessory slipped out of place, we had to reset the entire take. For instance, the wings' elastic harness tended to loosen, requiring several quick fixes mid-shoot. We also tested multiple setups for the booklet—holding it, resting it across a desk, or leaving it on the floor—to integrate it seamlessly. I am very satisfied with how the final photos turned out, blending her character cues smoothly with the classroom ambiance.
