For this Firefly ACG Expo photoshoot, I cosplayed Shirasu Azusa from Blue Archive, selecting a classic black-and-white color palette for the overall styling.
The wig features silver-gray long straight hair, with neat straight bangs trimmed for a snug, flattering fit. To match the character's signature translucent look, I chose light blue contact lenses to brighten my gaze. The eye makeup emphasized the lower eyelid drop and aegyo sal shadows, making the eyes appear round, lively, and perfectly suited to this aloof yet gentle Anime character style.
The top is a white long-sleeved shirt incorporating sailor collar elements, featuring black-and-white striped lines around the collar and a bright yellow tie knotted at the center—a striking pop of contrast against the black-and-white base. The cuffs are tapered with black spliced fabric, creating clear visual layering across the upper body through black-and-white contrast.
The skirt on the lower half is the most substantial part of the entire outfit. The black fabric uses a satin material with a subtle sheen, revealing clean textures and natural folds under camera flashes. Multiple layers of white wavy ruffles are spliced along the bottom hemline, which prevents accidental exposure while elevating the dress's overall opulence.
For shoes, I went with custom black-and-white Mary Janes—featuring black toe caps, black buckles, and a white body—paired with black mid-calf socks as part of a sleek Black tights outfit aesthetic. To keep the color tone unified, the sock cuffs feature subtle white accents. When standing, the leg lines harmonize beautifully with the skirt hem, visually elongating body proportions.
The halo above my head was the soul of this styling. I experimented with various materials before crafting this arched glowing piece, embedding micro LED strips inside so it casts a warm yellow glow during night shoots. This saved post-processing editing time while casting a natural fill light over my face.
The prop wings are fairly large, suspended in pairs across my back. Aside from white feathers, the most unique feature is the layered decorations. Along with yellow bows on both sides, gold chains string together multiple small purple and pink flowers. These intricate details breathe life into plain white wings, making the color palette sweeter and richer.
Shooting took place beside bushes surrounding the convention center. Due to limited night lighting, the photographer used portable fill lights. A wide-aperture lens beautifully blurred the background lawn and shrub foliage, making the bright yellow glowing halo and white wings pop vividly within the frame. The overall color tone feels warm yet retains a dreamlike ACG aesthetic.
We posed in several different ways on site. The first pose had my hands clasped in front of my body with a slight side turn, looking quiet and elegant. The second pose had one hand supporting my chin, leaning slightly with my eyes fixed on the lens; this angle showcased the skirt hemline and leg extension while adding a playful, lively touch. The third pose had both hands pulling the ends of my hair tips, making the body language feel relaxed and natural.
Shirasu Azusa's character aura is pure and serene, so during recreation, I aimed to maintain natural expressions without exaggerated posing. Although we worked late into the night and dealt with bugs on the lawn, capturing these moments framed by the costume and props made all the preparation time truly worthwhile.
Lastly, while shooting on an ACG outdoor location at Firefly ACG Expo presented tough conditions, the final photos offer a sense of realism and depth that studio shoots often lack. Through lighting and background choices, this photo set captures the character's most complete side. For me, it was a thoroughly fun photoshoot experience.
